Pissing off their base, they try to move left during elections and don't score anyone from the Democrats while insuring their base will stay home on election day, something I was tempted to do when I was a Republican during the McCain/Obama election, both options were atrocious.

The Republican party "today" has a wider range of 'conservatism' to satisfy and it's not really possible with a single candidate, IMO.

That's an assinine thought. Anyone who thinks just because Obama was a bad president that other minorities would be bad presidenst wouldn't be using their political prowess.[/

Thanks. I find it comforting that someone from the "left" finds my comment "assinine". It means that I am on tract with rational thinking.

No it means that your prejudice and bigoted. Just because one half-minority president was bad, doesn't mean all of them will be. Nor does it mean that all americans would assume the same prejudice opinion.

Oh look, the "Saul Alinsky" card by Lakeside .
Wow. Saul Alinsky would be proud of you. But, not a very good job of trying to spin this. Get back to the drawing board Saul.

An old saying:

"The Democrats are the party of no ideas, but the Republicans are the party of BAD ideas."

Cantor of an agenda for 2014 as a "blank" piece" of paper, the only promise GOPs have kept to America this year .

So Cruz won the quadrennial poll of political irrelevance. I guess its time for Ron Paul (winner of 28 straw polls leading up to the 2012 election) to hand over his trophy. Then again, its early, so Cruz could still assume the runner up role and have the junior trophy surrendered to him by Herman Cain (winner of 17 straw polls in 2012).... In the Republican party, just like kindergarden, everyone gets a feel good trophy, as they sure have no shot at the big prize.

Yes and no. They focus on the "religious values" argument which turns off a lot of people in the middle, then they insult the evangelicals, they try to appeal to strong conservatives, then target the TEA party, they talk strongly about economic liberty, then pass bills that throttle it. They speak about gun rights, then turn around and compromise a portion of them away. They try to play the line, which isn't a smart strategy.

Really? Could you explain that thought to me, because in my estimation it made no sense, not even if I substitute "track."

At least for the foreseeable future, do you guys think we have seen our last white, male President? I think it is HIGHLY likely that as the minority and women voting blocks grow we may not see another one for some time. Over/under 3 more Presidents until our next white male??

Other then racists...who gives a sh!t?

I certainly don't.

What a stupid thread subject, IMO.

To be fair, minorities, even if they voted monolithically, could not have got Obama elected. The overwhelming precentage of Obama supporters were "white". Blacks voted for him at near a 100% though.

Which is why the OP is ridiculous - that's all I was trying to point out.

Yet when elections come around, the vast majority of morons run out and vote either Democrat or Republican anyway, so all the sniveling about 'independent voters' and the like means nothing, especially all the breast beating lunacy routinely offered up on message boards, so it's not like the brie and chardonnay sets that lead these parties have to give a crap about inconsistencies or lying to voters year after year after year; they don't need to care what anybody else thinks, obviously. One or the other is going to get your vote no matter what, it's just a matter of reducing the turnout of each other's base these days, hence the focus on negative campaigns.

And this I agree with completely.

Also, just because some white dudes were great presidents doesn't mean they all are. Everyone knows that is true.

So he was never an Illinois state senator, a United States Senator, an attorney or a professor? Good to know.

What he was doing for the most party was striving to become part of the reform-minded Chicago political scene even marrying a woman who was friends with Jesse Jackson daughter.

He had a plan, a plan to put his piss mark on this country. He's doing a fine job of it. 8)

Feel good trophy?...naw that's a Leftist thing.

Are you really in HS?

*cough cough* Sarah Palin *cough cough*

Pot, meet thy kettle.

I'd say it's far more likely that after the current occupant of the White House leaves office, it will be a lifetime before another black man is elected President.

In case you missed it, the current President was elected by a lot of non-minority votes. You're suggestion implies that minorities aren't capable of voting outside their race.

I don't think I implied that at all.

Of course minorities are capable of voting outside their race but it's pretty naive to insist no person on the planet is swayed by race. The major parties certainly agree with that statement as they recruit minorities to run. Even the Republican Party is desperately trying to shed it's "rich, old white guy" image.

Why - because blacks will only vote for blacks? Women will only vote for women?

Let me tell you - if the only women who run are like Hillary Clinton I'll never vote for a single female president - ever.

I find it obtuse and insulting that people assume others are driven by race and gender issues.

There is a lot of people who feel the same way about Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann... Gender is really irrelevant to the views of a candidate these days.

Well, yes it does imply that minorities are incapable of voting outside their race because that's the only way that no white male will ever be President again.

That is absolutely true. I am amazed that the Republicans are doing their own cutoff to their base though by going against it. It's defeatist.

Why even exert yourself to disgorge such excremental queries? Do you foresee an extinction level event from which blacks and women are oddly impervious?
