Government and those seeking to get others to do things they want.

The same people benefit the most from nearly every aspect of society: the most privileged group in a category. When it comes to class, the wealthiest benefit the most from the government, media, education and so on. When it comes to race, white people tend to benefit the most from those areas. When it comes to gender, men tend to benefit the most from those areas. Privilege gets you benefits. Period.

Is near as I can tell the only privilege any of those demographics see is the bill.

In sheer numbers, corporations/wealthy. On a "return on investment" standpoint, the poor - by a lot.

I think you have to look at benefit being relative.

If you don't have anything, no capital, no education, no skills, no resources, your days are pretty much numbered in any modern society/economy.

If the government steps in and provides you with those things that are most necessary to survive then the government has benefited you your very life.

To me, having a roof over your head, food in your belly, access to some degree of medical care, free education for your children, & cet... is worth a whole heck of a lot more, relatively speaking, to someone who has nothing than another $1 million is to a millionaire.

When you consider how the tax burden of borne in this country the simple fact is that the millionaire is providing government with the funds necessary to ensure that the lowest socioeconomic strata of society does not literally die off from starvation, illness, and want of all stripes.

Well said.

Having a stable society in which wealth even matters us a huge but under appreciated benefit.

Bingo.

Funny how that wasn't one of the choices though eh?

I've never seen a multi-select poll that asks for "the most". I answered before it became a poll and it just got worse.

On an individual level, how much one benefits from government certainly varies. An individual poor person may benefit from the gov. MUCH more than an individual rich person. However, looking at it on a systemic level - which is the OP seems to want us to do - then the very wealthy systemically benefit more from the government than the poor. The very wealthy get better public schools, public roads and other public facilities and programs. The very wealthy get more political influence, more government connections and so on. The very wealthy benefit more from government because our society - even the government - responds more to money than it does to the lack of it.

The and probably the Middle Class would be starving or dead without the government.

I sense that you're trying to make a point, but you'll need to be more direct.

Seems obvious to me. Government contributes a lot to social stability whether it be through welfare type programs or infrastructure. Without the current spending, keeping things calmed down, people would take their discontent to the streets with the associated rioting

IIRC, most social spending goes to the middle class.

Some corporations benefit from the gubmint, but at the expense of other corporations.

Actually it depends on who is running the government. Democrats favor regulation, which support the little guy from being screwed over from corporations. Republicans on the other hand resist regulation and want the poor to fend for themselves, also leaving corporations do whatever they want.

long established commercial entities would be my number 1 answer.... big business... doesn't matter how much they put in, they always get what they want out of government

I wouldn't say " corporations" as if all are equal... they aren't... the majority of corporations get run the **** over by the bigger fish and the politicians they bought.

I don't know the difference between the "rich" and the "wealthy"... but neither group get anywhere near what they put in.

the middle class are ****ed all the way around.....you give a lil, and you get a lil... well, unless you consider being paid lip service by power hungry politicians to be a "benefit".. if you do, this group benefits the most.

the poor get a metric ****-ton for little or no contribution.

From the existence of government in general, or from our government specifically? Eh, either way, it's everyone. It gives all our money to the wealthiest and to corporations, but very few of us would be better off without democratic government. But almost all of us would be better without private money determining our elections and buying the allegiance of our elected leaders.
