Sure, you have no point. Just crying about some kid that dad set straight.

I agree with Gipper, judges who make those convicted of crimes stand on corners with signs announcing their crimes and subjecting them to ridicule from complete strangers are far more "cruel" than this man. And considering the state of "fatherless" children in black communities in America, I'd be on the street corner giving this caring father a medal for trying to teach his son responsibility.

I have a feeling this charge will be dropped by the district attorney involved - there is no chance of a conviction and it just makes them look foolish to pursue it.
Unfortunately the CPS will still be involved. The nightmare is just beginning.

With your train of thought, shouldn't the mother also be punished for merely allowing the father to punish the child?

Re: Father faces child cruelty charges for teen's punishment..

I would like some more information, but I also understand the police here. This is too much, especially given what he was said to be punished for (from what information we are being given).

First, assuming that this was going on for large portions of the day, then how often did the teen get a break? It wasn't but a year or two ago that the little girl died because her stepmother/grandmother had her running laps around the house for a few hours at a time. Plus, this was not a large kid. A 16 year old boy who is only 4'3" tall, unless overweight, is not going to weigh that much (that is over a foot shorter than I was at that age). (The ideal weight for someone at guy at 4 1/2 feet tall is only about 80lbs.)

Second, as others have pointed out, there are much more appropriate punishments. First of all, take away whatever device(s) he is using to "watch videos" on. Not that hard. Even cell phones can have their internet disabled. Second, if he wasn't doing his chores at all, then how in the heck did the father get him to do this pointless task? That doesn't make any sense. Maybe it was more along the lines of the kid wasn't doing the chores when exactly the father wanted them done. Which, is certainly cause for punishment, but not like this.

Seems like some info is missing here, but it certainly sounds like the punishment went too far. I would say some family counseling is definitely called for as punishment. I don't think jail time would be right though.

Interesting deflection. Noticed that you couldn't answer the question.
