So how many of you AGW women that think we are warming the planet use a solar drier? My guess is 99% of you use fossil fuel to dry your laundry. This may set a record as the least responded to poll in DP history. People hate to admit their hypocrisy.

I do both. I line dry towels, blankets and other clothing that takes too much time in the dryer like jeans and thick sweaters. I dry the quick, simple, small stuff.

One thing i can't stand during the summer is folding hot clothes when they come out of the dryer. Ugh. So my line's used more, then.

I am not a warmer, but I like to hang clothes out to dry. I like the way it makes them smell.

What do you mean by fossil fuel? The Tennessee Valley Authority which provides power for North Alabama, parts of Tennessee and parts of Georgia is generated by a dam on the Tennessee River.

Some power is produced by nuclear energy. Not all electricity is created with coal. I am not an electrical engineer so I don't know how fossil fuel plays into the equation. Does all sources of electricity require the use of fossil fuels? If so, is it really 99%?

Fair comment, I should have included damming rivers and nuke power but my point remains.

That is a good point yet misses the larger point; using a solar clothes dryer (rope and clothes pins) easily reduces the demand for electrical (or natural gas) power.

Why you starting and stopping with dryers? What about washing clothes, washing dishes, cooking, cleaning?????

Air conditioning and heating????

I thought this thread was about menopause?/ 8)

All good points except that drying clothes is a HUGE use of fossil fuel that is easily avoided. Much easier to hang laundry out than to do it on a wash board. If warmer broads can't even do this one tiny effort then they are truly disgusting and not to be taken seriously.

So far not a single one of the women in here that are always whining about global warming have piped in, I wonder why? I have to start my real life now but I look forward to seeing if any of you dare answer. CYA tomorrow morning ladies. ;)

I have yet to meet a woman who does not become warmer provided the necessary steps have been taken to encourage such.

Computers ??? Aren't computers an unnecessary luxury that uses electricity?

Depends on where you live and when. Some communities forbid hanging clothes out.

Some areas stink from pollution. Where I live often has a pungent smell of mushroom farms if the wind blows right.

Clothes dryers use more energy than clothes washers? Ovens, stoves, and microwaves? Dishwashers? Vacuum cleaners? A/C and heating? Hot water heaters? Televisions and lights?

What on earth would i need a dryer for. We have clothes lines and beautiful weather for drying our clothes. We've never owned one.

What many (most?) want is for "someone" (usually gov't) to wave the magic wand and demand conversion to "green" energy. These folks insist that life remain as is (using lots of "energy hog" convenience/comfort appliances) but demand that power generation be "transformed" to using renewable sources.

that are always whining about global warming

Always is a strong word. I am 35 years old. I have never been confronted by a woman complaining about global warming? Do you live in Oregon or something?

Are you exaggerating when you say, "always whining"?

Are you a warmer woman? or a colder broad?
