Contrary to what self-righteous people like to think, we're all somewhere in between. No one is getting robbed, and no one is lazily living off of the work of others. Instead, we're all trying to collaborate to survive together and live decent lives. There's no nanny state. No one is refusing to contribute and being a parasite on anyone else. There is no Peter, and there is no Paul.

Keep feeding your mind that total fantasy.

How did we ever get to the point where someone actually believes that the unemployed of society wants to willingly subsist at poverty levels?

One third stay home
, don't work, eat and drink like Royalty, getting free everything, driving nice cars, living in wonderful homes because they don't want to earn a living.

While the other two thirds, slaves all day, living no better than the evil lazies they support with their hard earned tax dollars.

It's scary to think that our political leaders, so desperate for votes have literally gotten people to repeat this nonsense.

It couldn't possibly be that the economy is so rotten because of corporations laying people off and cutting positions to increase profits, where if the gov't didn't provide some basic means, we'd have rampant crime, riots and starvation? We began a Recession 6 years ago that would've rivaled the Great Depression, if not for the gov't bailing out the very, greedy bankers/corporations that created the problem.

Are there some people abusing the system and non motivated, because of literally making almost as much off gov't assistance as working, of course. There will always be people who abuse the system, and some groups are using it more than others, but I doubt the majority of them want to be there, and are living at the same level as those with better health, opportunities, education, employment and careers.

where is this place ?

if the poor is that lucky there who are those morons complaining about poverty

whats more slaves cant earn enough to distribute to the others.

If your heart was truly in it, you wouldn't need the state to take the money from you. You'd do it on your own, like I do and give to charity. So save us the feigned appearance of charity that is totally phoney.

That's what I pay taxes for. I never understood the "give to charity" crowd. After all, most charities disappear money without giving it to the needy, taking it from you and channeling it to cronies, even more efficiently than the government.

That's total bull****, and little of your tax charity makes it to the needy due to the high govt overhead. That is NOT what taxes are for. That's for the lazy, and those who don't care enough to pull their wallets out and brush the cob webs off.

Nonsense. Charities are typically income machines or outright scams. I'd rather pay taxes. I love my country, not some falsely advertised cause.

But, hey, feel free to waste your money. Free country and all that.

You love your country? What a ridiculous statement and wholly irrelevant to what we're discussing. Why can't you think for yourself, and figure out how to help people on your own, instead of having to have the govt pry open that rusty wallet of yours and jerk the money out?

In order to answer the OP question we need more information. What are you considering in the entire calculation? If one is a tax payer an the other a tax consumer - how does one begin to calculate this determination? Does your status change over time? From one day to the next? One week to the next? One month to the next? One year to the next? During various phases and aspects of ones life cycle?
Do we need to separate local taxes and benefits from state taxes and benefits and from federal taxes and benefits or do we consider all together merely as taxes and benefits?

In short - how does one accurately and definitively determine if they are Peter or Paul? Without an accurate determination of that fact - a poll is rather meaningless as is the very question and discussion itself.

Charities are a scam. I prefer to give the money to Uncle Sam.

That's totally unsubstantiated, and Uncle Sam also has scammers.

Seeing that the last thing I want my government to do is to be a charity, I am with you. Charity is not a public good, is therefore more efficiently produced by private groups and not one that government sponsorship improves. So why should we allow the government to spend hard earned money on it?

...We began a Recession 6 years ago that would've rivaled the Great Depression, if not for the gov't bailing out the very, greedy bankers/corporations that created the problem. ....

This sentence puts your article in doubt. While it is true that the government prevented the second wave of the Greenspan/Clinton liquidity bubble from ripping the economy into depression by supporting the banks and various other institutions, it is rather disingenuous to say that it was "greedy bankers/corporations that created the problem". Too much money was pumped into the economy during the 1990s. That created misallocations of horrendous proportion and huge bubbles. Other regulations and government activities like fixed currencies (China/inside Euroland) around the world strengthen the problems locally. The result was the double bubble and depression in large parts of Europe that we have seen. It is also far from certain that the forces of destruction from the government actions have been weathered and are finished. To me there seems substantial reason to believe that this will challenge us again. And if it does, misunderstanding the reasons will not help.

Many Of The Largest Charities In America Are Giant Money Making Scams | InvestmentWatch
How would you feel if you donated money to help disaster victims or cancer patients and you later found out that more than 97 percent of the money that you gave never got into the hands of the people that needed it? Sadly, that is happening all over America today. In fact, in some of the worst cases, less than a penny of every dollar that is donated ends up in the hands of those that need the help. If you can believe it, right now there are 6,000 charities in the United States that use for-profit companies to raise money for them, and in many of those instances the for-profit companies end up keeping more than 50 percent of the donations for themselves. In addition, many charities end up paying their employees “salaries” that are far greater than the total amount of money that the charities actually give to the needy.
