Remember. It isn't a problem unless you have a solution.
Mandatory nothing. Wish to exercise your 2A rights, do so.

Fair enough. I guess we shouldn't hi-jack the thread.

This is the problem that you sited that I was referencing.

This is not a second amendment issue.

First Amendment. Do as you wish with your own body. Call it a religious offering. But we don't need weak people. Weak people for the sake of just being weak are worthless to the continuation of man kind.

In the OP scenario, no one is being allowed to leave.

But you are right, no one has to be prepared to defend their family. They can pray their attackers will be merciful and not harm their family and they can wait for the police.

I'm glad that is not the example my father (& mother) set for us. And my father never shot a hand gun until I taught him around 70 yrs old. But he sure didnt leave our lives up to beneficence of criminals.

Work hard for the few things I have, anyone want to take them. Better be prepared to go the long haul and go from thief to murderer in a heart beat.
Run if you want, I have never and will never run from anyone or anything in my life.
How did you get so soft?

Not me. I'd retreat anytime possible, except in my home. And that's because a) I may be cut off from getting out, so that's why I have a safe room and b) I have no idea what or who I'd be 'retreating into waiting outside.

I have no desire to shoot anyone and I certainly would rather retreat ANY DAY than deal with courts, juries, and legal costs. My ego is less important than the practical side of things.

Ego had nothing to do with it, I love how the left always puts that out there.

Largely because i value the lives of my children over my tv. But that is just me. I am not going to start a gun fight with a group of people and then get myself killed and leave those same people now alone with my young son and daughter because I want to keep my tv. But again, thats just me. Some people do value their possessions more than loved ones.

Why do you boil it down to nothing by your TV, you think people only break in to steal TVs? They break in to rape, beat, murder (thrill kill), torture.
Is it likely in most parts? No, but the Connecticut doctor's wife probably never considered it either.
