Is this scenario racism, Can minorities be racist?

    The scenario:

    Where: USA
    When: today 5/12/2014

I'm a black guy that owns a contracting Company. Its smaller, about 20 employees.

Lets call it Agent J's Home Improvements and Landscaping.

I dont hire any white people, I think they arent trust worthy simply because they are white so I deny everyone that applies. For me White = dishonest.

Am I a racist, is this racism?

For reference here the definition of racism:

    Racism:
    rac·istnoun or adjective
    1: a belief that
race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
    2: racial prejudice or discrimination

Yes, I would say you're a racist with what you've described. I don't know if it fits the dictionary's definition, but it fits mine.

Great thread topic and scenario for this topic by the way.

To answer your first question, based solely on the scenario you described, as requested, yes.

To the second question, yes. Racism knows no color, or race, or ethnic boundaries. Racism is racism, regardless of from where it originates.

Re: Is this scenario racism, Can minorities be racist?

Yes, the scenario is completely racist. To say that 100% of all white people are dishonest is the same as me saying 100% of black people cheat the system to get government welfare.
If you strike me down, I'll become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.

As Maggie said that is racist. The only person that will probably disagree is Eco.

I think it's racism but some define racism in such a way that the definition itself precludes anyone who isn't. I gotta say, it sure would be handy to be part of a group that by it's very definition completely excludes and excuses my actions and attitudes.

You sounds more like you're prejudices than a racist.

Who does the landscaping for your company, illegal aliens from Mexico ?

Or are you a high end contractor and only use Japanese landscapers ?

Japanese have a well earned reputation as being the best landscapers in the trade. Because Ed Asner (Lib) only uses Japanese landscapers at his home in Santa Barbara, is he a racist, prejudice or does he just wants the best looking garden on the block ?
