Who is the best president for Afghanistan?

With the Afghanistan elections coming to a close, and the diplomats furiously working to make sure that the bilateral security agreement gets approved, US interests in the region have never been more at risk. The Taliban, is at its strongest yet, making up for all the losses it suffered during the US invasion, becoming the worlds largest organized terrorist group, with mass support from the populous.

Abdullah Abdullah: A multi ethnic native, he is currently the leading candidate in Afghanistan's 2014 presidential election. An educated physician, who has served years as a adviser to Massoud, the Northern Coalition leader, is currently the head of Afghan's National Coalition. A loose alliance of parties formed to oppose Karzai. His perks, are probably the unity he has achieved among the ethnic groups and various ideological organizations. He is liberal minded, but we know little about his actual platform. It is clear that he promised amnesties to multiple party leaders, and will likely establish a Islamic Democracy. It is unclear though, if he will sign the much wanted BSA agreement with the US. If not, then we may be forced to look towards Pakistan for our basing in the Indo-Kush region

Ashraf Ghani Amadzai: This guys ascension to power, relies heavily on his ethnicity. He is both American and Pashtun. In other words, a former Afghan American. An extremely intelligent philosopher and Economist, who has served in the International Monterary Fund, World Bank, and has taught in two prestigious American universities including Berkeley. He has run several extremely successful economic programs in Afghanistan, Russia, China, and Eastern Europe. Not a single mishap on his long economic record. People are divided over his ethnicity though. As a Pashtun, he is attractive to the natives. As an American, he is automatically dis-considered by a quarter of the voters. He will establish a secular state, according to his platform. He also confirmed a desire to sign the BSA. In the first count, before the revote, he fell behind 10% to Abdullah.

Isn't Muhammad Ali on the ballot?

A revote happened following Abdullah's failure to rack a 50% vote. In order to ensure another revote is not going to happen, the two top candidates are the only ones eligible for presidency.

It doesn't matter what politician is elected because the Taliban will either assassinate him or co-opt him.

Very.... optomistic of you. I don't see Karzai 6 feet under, but I will give you that the Taliban was 1/4th the size during the height of his presidency. Point Is: Still not dead!!!

Seriously? Alright, so I guess the 31 million effected citizens, and US security interests are irrelevant?

You make my point for me. The US will pick the right puppet for the job.

Ha, I'm not saying your wrong. I just want proof. Both sides will ask for US assistance in some form, with the recent insurgency, but each are hardly popular with US ties. Ahmazadi's are the sole reason why he's behind.

You're right, Karzai was not killed. But my other factor was being co-opted. And it can be said without any lingering doubt that Karzai is corrupt as a moonless night is dark.
