Charles Barkley’s got a message for those who don’t like his sense of humor. Here's what the TNT commentator said during Sunday’s NBA playoff coverage.


“I’m just gonna have fun on TV. You know I’m joking … some of you people don’t like my sense of humor. Here’s what I gotta say. Turn off your damn television. I’m not gonna change. If you’re all waiting for me to apologize, hell’s gonna freeze over!”

Did somebody finally stand up to the faux outrage over free speech or is this not comparable?
 
Turned off my TV long ago! I had no clue the NBA playoffs were even being played. Charles Barkley is as racist as they come, i dont miss the nba one bit.
 
IMO: If you want to do something that matters because you're pissed off at Charles Barkley than take his advice and shut off your TV; it may very well work. ;)
 
 
Anybody who cares what Charles Barkley says needs to look in a mirror and say hello to the biggest moron on the planet.

I keep saying we need to stop putting these athletes up on such high pedestals. One day, some one will look back and say that Mildsteel was right.

I don't know whether to call this an implosion compared to how we've played last series and game one of this one, or simply a return to form for the habitural .500 wizards from the majority of the year.
 
He should just spit on his haters, oh wait we are all not 5 year old girls.

Charles works hard to keep relevant. Ex-athlete analysts are as important to the game as ex-athletes.

If Charles' opinion mattered he would be coaching somewhere. Even Vinny Del Negro got a coaching job.
 
I think he needs to be fired.

If his boss cares at all about their profit, having an on-air personality say to turn off the television, is counter-productive to the business.

Time to go Charles.
 
I don't give a damn, can't stand professional sports and wouldn't watch it if you paid me. He's right though, if you don't like what's going on, don't watch it. Nobody is holding a gun to your head. If enough people don't watch, TNT will make some changes and I would think that would lead to replacing some commentators, but I doubt the majority of viewers care that much, they'll keep watching regardless. Don't like it? Don't watch it. Problem solved.
 
I couldn't care less what Charles says. I haven't watched an NBA game since the Hawks moved out of St. Louis to Atlanta in about 1967. Including playoff and championship games.

Or Indiana returning to being Indiana instead of a team that looked like their powers had been robbed by the MonStars.
 
Called me the minority here but I find Charles Barkley funny. Haven't put him on a pedestal and wouldn't cross the street to get his autograph but I do enjoy listening to him. So be it.
 
I like the NBA and I like Barkley
I simply get it, its just like he said he is trying to have fun :shrug:
He owes nobody an apology as far as I know did he say somethign in particular

Whether you put him on a pedestal or not, the fact that this is even a story says that his words are taken too seriously. Charles Barkley is no philosopher or thinker. He knows some basketball tho. Outside of that, he opinion on anything should not matter.
