Tonight was the Eurovision international song contest. All of the nations of Europe (plus Israel for some reason?) get together and screech terribly into the microphone while the UK makes fun of them relentlessly, then loses.
Sometimes it's musical gold, more often it's comedic gold, but it's got a viewership in the hundreds of millions.
Tonight, the winner was a transexual named Conchita Wurst from Austria (I might point out, at this point, that wurst means sausage, which is just a little bit funny considering the circumstances).
What's less funny and more powerful is that it was indeed an open transexual, a woman with a beard, who won the contest, and garnered more votes than anyone else. Eurovision is determined by popular voting, which means that tens of millions to hundreds of millions voted for Conchita Wurst's act.
To many in Europe, this is seen as a victory for progress and tolerance, that so many people would vote for and laud an openly transexual person.
Do you think this is an example of progress, and the times changing? Do you support Conchita's transexualism, and are you proud that an openly transexual person can be internationally lauded?
Or do you think it's wrong, and immoral?
Or maybe you think it's all a gimmick anyway?
Where do you stand?

EDIT: To my shame, I misspelt the title. It should be won, not one.
