I do but then again I have a loaded gun in every room in my house.

EDIT: I'm interested in how your politics relates to this decision too.

Yes there is a gun on top of my nightstand at night, gets locked up or carried during the day.

In general I dont lean in any direction nor does politics have anything to do with my want to be able to protect my family in extreme cases if needed that would be absurd.

"Overall crime rating at University of Puget Sound is worse than most

Safe college campuses have less crime. University of Puget Sound earns an overall crime rating of F+ when we compare reported on-campus, city, and regional crime against all other schools nationwide.

How Safe is University of Puget Sound? Explore Campus crime

Problem is, guy, you're assuming that what goes on on that particular (not especially large) campus applies to the whole of Puget Sound. You really should get away from thinking that having guns around all the time somehow keeps the peace. They don't. From the CDC (if you go therre you might have to set the parameters that are in the map below):

And from Popular Science magazine, yes, gun laws ARE associated with lower gun death rates:

Didja notice that on both maps, the states of New York and Illinois are WAY lower than what's found Down South? Why is that, guy?

No it's not, and no I don't. And statistically speaking, chances are much greater that a gun inside the house will be used against either people inside the house or their friends or acquaintances than that the gun will be used in self-defense in a robbery, home invasion, or assault.

That, sir, is likely why homicide rates are significantly higher in gun-friendly states than in gun-unfriendly states. For instance, the number of homicides in NYC is roughly equal to the number of homicides in the entire state of Louisiana...but when one adds in the fact that NYC has almost twice the number of people Louisiana does, one realizes that Louisiana's homicide rate is almost twice that of oh-so-scary NYC.

that is because those studies-usually commissioned by anti gun scum who are trying to prove guns are bad-COUNT AS A GUN INSIDE THE HOUSE as guns BROUGHT TO THE HOME BY Robbers or invaders. In other words, if you are a gun free home and say your ex boyfriend is pissed that you have a new boyfriend and he breaks into your house while you are getting frisky with the new boyfriend and the ex shoots you both, your shooting will be counted as a home with a "gun inside the house"

It was safe. It still is safe. That was the case I referred to in my post.

If he had a gun, that night would have had a very different ending.
that was one of the few cases I can think of where publicly imposed horrific torture might be justified. I am ambivalent about the death penalty but I would lose no sleep if those two murderers had been broken on the wheel. Yeah, its too bad the wife completely failed to do the smart thing at the bank or that the doctor didn't have a pistol

I don't but if there was a zombie apocalypse I'd go with this

Glock 45 by the bed and a 12 gage beside the bedroom door. Everything else is in the safe, except when there's something around. Had a cougar sighted around here a while back, so some other stuff was out around the house for a while. My dogs protect me, and I protect them.

Leaving yourself undefended is surly a way to die. I live in a "safe" neighborhood. But my heat is right there for the moment its not.
If your house is secure there is no reason to sleep with a gun.

WEIRD buggers you are! I'm glad your censors are going to chuck me out, the Zionist sods!

Because locks have never been picked or defeated and no one has ever kicked a door in or window out.
I don't think anyone can kick in either of my steel entry doors. The frames are very solidly reinforced. And you cannot pick deadbolts that have no keyholes. As far as kicking in a window, my house sits pretty high up off the ground. Nobody can kick that high. And even if they could kick that high they are made of 1/2 inch Lexan with reinforced frames. Even a pro baseball player couldn't shatter them with a bat. And the windows and doors also have very loud alarms. If somebody tries to get in I will know it.

The house is secure when I go to bed. I'm confident that nobody is getting in.

You have a duty and responsibility to be ready and prepared to defend yourself, family and home.

Most gun haters are afraid to accept that duty and the risk of failure. They want to outsource that duty and that risk to the government and they don't want to be reminded of their failures by seeing other people who are armed, ready willing and prepared to defend themselves.

Gun bans are often a case of cowards or the timid exorcising things that remind themselves of their own failings

maybe so but what you have is extra time. so you have time to get the bren gun out, put the magazine of tracers in it. get behind some heavy cover and get ready to light up any asshole who manages to breach your outer perimeter

Nice gun-you can sell that for about 1500 dollars and get yourself a SW 686 in the same caliber (uses the same speed loaders IIRC) and a smaller K frame you can carry with you

that's a club
It's a bowling pin on the end of a rope. It is a club, but the rope gives it much more range than just a club.

Like most cement masons, I am a very strong individual. And I've also had a couple years of martial arts training too. Not as many years as my daughters who all started martial arts training when they were around 7 or 8 years old, but enough for a guy like me. Even though my daughters might be able to kick my ass.

I was referring to the last sentence by Crue Cab.....I was not clear with the quote I guess. I was agreeing with voyager1 and condemning Crue Cab for his ignorance.

You cannot fix stupid so I see no point in going out of my way to condemn it in most cases. I usually just shake my head and take the, "But for the grace of God go I," approach.

You may notice that I typically just ignore "certain posters," here at DP. Life is too short.

So you live in a fortress? Sure you do. Everyone that says your same thing says that about their home. "cant get in my home". BS, I could get in your home in a heart beat.

Yea, you think you are strong and bad ass. Till you meet someone stronger and more bad ass.

God don't care about your or your family's safety. That is your job.

Spikes Tactical AR pistol with a double drum mag off a single point sling. That will stop the zombies. WHen it all goes down, .357 and .38 rounds will burn off in no time. .223/5.56 will be around for years.

You needed more options since many people lean neither left nor right. I picked leaning left because if I lean on a wall or whatever I like to keep my gun ( right ) hand unobstructed.

I also picked that I keep no gun by my bed because I keep 3 guns by my bed.

Your poll is too simplistic.
