I like cash and the anonymity that comes with it... which is probably why it will be phased out.

Before we get any other currency changes, we need to get rid of the penny.

    Poll open for one year!
I thought we had a tried a coin. But maybe times have changed enough. But why not just increase the value of a Dollar by slashing a zero or two of all balances and issue a new Greenback on which Washington is smiling.

Most people use debit cards most of the time. I do.

I like the coin idea over paper money, to be honest. It significantly reduces counterfeiting more than anything else. It probably also makes illegal enterprises more complicated because it would force larger transactions to create a paper-trail. Too bad we can't full trust the government though.

silver dollars are my favorite. everyone should carry around a big bag of them with a $ on the outside of the canvas. ****, i would. i love the things.

in reality, my guess is that money eventually could go entirely digital.

Coins suck to carry around. I'd just as soon be done with all of them.

On most US military PX they already do not use pennies.
I would Say the Canadians are on to something with the loonies and toonies.
Loose the pinnies and the single bills, add the one dollar coin, but bigger than a quarter,
may also consider adding the $2 coin as well.

Nope.Just because you do not use coins does not mean others do not.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

If a penny costs more than a penny to produce with the cheapest metals then I don't see how a higher value of a coin wouldn't be susceptible to the same flux.

Fabrics and fibers are less likely to spring and toss, value wise - and can be made synthetically.
