    Oh...I had no idea.

I thought Chicago was the Mecca of progressiveness.

Oh well, there is always Detroit, but please don't mention Buffalo. The old **** hole is actually a neat town now, great architecture, music hall and a booming economy.

Absolutely not. Just not too long ago Rahm (Obama's henchman) implemented drastic cuts to Chicago's Public Library System. (Which already runs on ore volunteers than paid staff) You want to give 100 Mil to a library give it to CPLS.

I mean how much aggrandizing and adulation for tearing this country in two and sinking us into financial ruin does this guy need?

So that justifies large government expenses to build, staff and maintain these places just so a few dwindling number of people can read 'real' books instead of online books?

Public libraries should fulfill needs - not desires.

Yet for some reason these Democrats want the taxpayers to pay for Obama tributes. Even though they are having trouble with their Unions over pension benefits and money they have and are stealing from them. From school to labor. City and State workers.

    Good points MMC.

So now we are a robotic society that only does what it needs and not what it desires? Well there goes that "American Exceptionalism" everyone likes to huff and puff about.

Actually a presidential golf course would be more fitting. Doubt if the man's read a single book since he's been in office.

Presidential libraries provide valuable learning experiences for Americas children. A friend took her 3 children to the Bush Library recently and her son had his pic made sitting at a replica of the presidents desk in the Oval Office. He still talks about that experience.

Let Soros pay for Obama's library. How much can a subscription to Golf Digest cost anyway?

Why not? some already have been.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's

How is a Presidential Library paid for and funded?

A Presidential Library is constructed with private or non-Federal funds donated to non-profit organizations established usually for the express purpose of building a Presidential Library and supporting its programs. Some libraries have also received construction and development funding from state and/or local governments.

The library is then transferred to the Federal government and operated and maintained by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) through its congressionally appropriated operating budget. Some staff and programs at Presidential libraries are paid for with funds from associated private foundations organized to fund the construction of the library and provide continuing support for library programs and special events, such as conferences and exhibitions.
