Of course they should vote. They're citizens like the rest of us.

If you want to start denying the vote to people who have a financial interest in government decisions there'd be no one left to vote.

If enough people would vote 'no' I would be fine asking a counter-offer which would bar anyone from voting who did not have a Master's degree. I think that would sufficiently go after the conservative populists.

Of course they should be allowed to vote.

All citizens reserve the right to vote and should always.

As long as they don't have to follow any of the laws or pay any taxes .... then sure.

Only if you are an anti-government fool. Government provides private sector incentives and benefits all the time for the same reason that public employees also occasionally receive incentives and benefits. If we did not, we wouldn't need to massage and pamper small business owners, corporations, and their workers with such flowery language in each election cycle.

I sometimes ask myself this, and it seems so contrary to how things ought to be that I tend to dismiss it.

The question usually occurs when I encounter some event/story which highlights the potential and/or actual conflict of interest when employees or (in the case of public employee unions) groups of employees can elect their employers.

So I decided to put the question to you all: Should public employees be allowed to vote, and what rational supports your position?
Big money, corporations and foreign money can and do buy politicians but you think public employees who actually do pay taxes should not vote?

There is a big difference between giving to a politician that supports what you want passed, and that of actually buying a vote.
People need to get off this corruption kick. It doesn't happen that much.

It never, ever happens, except that it happens all the time. So, there's just that one exception....

    No I am not.
There most definitely is a big difference.
Most legislators agree with what they vote for. Show they don't.
Show they don't agree and only vote for something because they received a donation.
