I am a big NPR listener, but I don't think that counts as political talk radio since they go into a wide variety of subjects, most having nothing to do with politics.

I listen to Rush on my days off or if I am driving when he is on. I cannot listen to Levin or Hannity though, irritating.

I don't know how anyone could listen to Levin. The combination of the most grating accent imagionable with unrelenting seething anger.

That's like telling a vegan that it's okay to eat meat as long as they continue to acknowledge that the practices the meat industry are unethical. Listening to political talk radio, regardless of whether or not you put weight on what they have to say, provides revenue for the radio station, which is something one would want to avoid if they think it is "toxic."

I agree. I once tried to call in to a conservative leaning radio talk show and the call screener wouldn't let me thru. Why? Because I had an opinon different than the show's host. Isn't that what political debate is supposed to be about? After that I quit listening to any political talk radio.

"Revenue" is right. I was driving last week and once again was in a giant dead zone for NPR, so WRightWingRage it was. As if it wasn't bad enough that I decided to tune to that station, 3/4 of the entire two hour trip was commercials.

One of the funniest commentators (don't know who, they all sound the same to me) was actually supporting some local Muslim's complaint that a church was being held as the venue for his son's school's Easter egg hunt. So far so good. The talk show host went on to say, "It's perfectly reasonable, after all. If my son's school decided to hold an event for Allah, or...or...Hitler...I'd have a problem with that too."

    Que Commercial

Talk show host comes back on air: "You people, you people need to relax, I wasn't equating Islam with Hitler, I have friends who are Muslim...there are too many sensitive people out there!" though that was stretched out for a couple minutes at least.

    Good stuff.

It's all Mariachi and butt rock here. I'd get satellite radio but I don't commute enough.

That's one of the reasons I prefer more center-oriented hosts and shows. They're more willing to allow both sides and actually discuss a topic.

I'll also add that local shows tend to be better than national shows. Not sure why, but it seems that way.
If you claim sexual harassment to be wrong, yet you defend anyone on your side for any reason,
then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

I'm actually surprised by that. Having someone call in with a dissenting opinion in order for the host to "thrash" that person tends to be the bread and butter of those programs. That must have been a particularly insecure talk show host.
