Did The 47% Video of Mitt Romney Kill His Chances of Winning?

Did the 47% video save President Obama from losing?

I have not seen the demographic breakdown, but I thought all along the evangelicals would not vote for a "cultist" unless the Obama hate was very strong. Does anyone have the breakdown?
I thought it was a special Mormon ray gun. It only works if you're wearing the magic underwear.

I think the Obama hate was probably strong enough. It was people that looked beyond party that doomed him.

yea
quit using mitt's actual words against him, as if he actually made those comments [/sarcasm for those who need it]

You really do not understand the context drop, do you?

And his words are no worse than calling someone a "typical white person".

I dont think Romney would have gotten elected no matter what, now. At the time I was watching Faux and thought sure he had won. I dont think that 47% would have voted for him anyway.

Rounded to the nearest percent, 47% of the voters voted for Romney.

I never thought Obama would lose, to be frank.

But, the video did hurt Romney notably.

I was listening to a liberal radio talk show host and he made a statement that I'm not sure I believe. He said President Obama was losing until the video surfaced. What do you say?

Absolutely. I am one of the 47% that doesn't pay taxes. Romney made a stereotype that said all 47% of those people will vote for Obama. What a retard! Lots of middle income and lower income voters vote Republican.

Why would Romney tell lies? A president should be above sucking Rush Limbaugh's titties. Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer not a politician. The fact that Romney is so easily impressionable to believe lies makes him a weak leader.

I voted for him but I was very offended by the way his mischaracterized me. Insulting the people who have the potential to elect you president is retarded.

I think Romney might have secretly been working for the Obama campaign in the same way that Senator Kerry worked on the Bush Campaign in 2004.

Thank that all you want. You are still wrong.

in a way you have been unable thus far to articulate
you are welcome to try again
please offer something more convincing this time

no i don't
please explain exactly what constitutes 'context drop'

I already have, as have others herein. Don't worry about it, just go with what you got.

i have read the thread
and you have not explained context drop
but i will go with what i have, in the absence of any explanation

Republicans fail to understand/see that the majority or poor folks who pay the least or no taxes are in predominantly in Red states not Blue states....if you have nothing but contempt for the least fortunate then you will continue to lose elections.....last but not least it is not what he said but how he said it.....he closed the door in his own face when he made middle class Americans feel like we were worthless to his campaign.....the other thing that made him look bad was the silly "We are just ordinary folks" shopping at Costco type campaigning by him and his wife when the truth to it all was that neither of them had a clue to what the average American taxpayer looks like or where they shop....and lastly...he put too much faith in his faith instead of the voting public....I also think his running mate made many Americans' run scared when he started talking about cutting/changing medicare for people in the 50'ish age group who plan to rely on this medical coverage within the next 10-15 years.

you need to take this to the CT section. the little hissy fit throwing waiter who taped Romney should have been given a serious ass kicking for his actions and the hosts should have sued the caterer for the actions of their employee

Mittens pretty much sunk his own campaign boat, and it wasn't just his 47% remarks either.

Well, that wasn't difficult to figure out.

https://www.google.com/search?q=con...e&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8#q=context+drop+definition

My definition would be, the taking of context out of the entire message or, meaning of the message, by editing out parts of the entire message.

I suspect, the 47% remarks Mittens made were taken out of context and delivered to MSM for the purposes of smearing his campaign, which didn't help him at all. Good job Eco.

That was not the only qualification he listed.

I don't think he ever stood a chance. Too boring.

Things that killed his chances were the many different positions he took on different issues.

I found those quite amusing, some laughable too.

Yeah, he thought the way to win was to lie about President Obama... About welfare, $716 billion stolen from Medicare, more. He said President Obama was dividing America. He had to have his wife, Ann, along for interviews in MSM to fix his image. He said he wasn't a politician and his campaigned proved it. Romney was the candidate Obama wanted to face, Jon Huntsman was the one he feared and Huntsman could have beaten him IMO.

His issues were typical republican. Not really different than any before him recently.

He was a lurch. Uninspiring droning was his delivery.

You are. You're turning a brief rant regarding the campaign into a hatred of poor people by a mean old cold hearted businessman. You're turning him into the Scrooge just because he painted his political enemies in a bad light. If we did that every time a politician complained about the votes they cannot get, every politician ever would be the Scrooge.

You're making a mountain of a molehill, as a result of and to serve political bias.

Remember Obamas comment about clinging to the bible and guns?

Why didn't that hurt him?

What really lost Romney the election was the poor performance in the 3rd debate.

The 47% remark was a gaffe combined with extreme rhetoric. The 47% was really meant to be the support that anyone with a D would get in a general election contest. Then he described those people as those who support a system where a large part pay no federal income taxes. He was just basically saying that his message was for the undecided voters and did it in the most inarticulate way possible

It didn't help that Candy Crowley came to Obama's rescue, with false information to boot.

Romney lost because he ran on the Republican ticket which is unelectable until the GOP finds a way to purge bigots from their leadership and reverse course on the Southern Strategy which played out decades ago. The GOP simply cannot reach 270 EC votes. They'll be lucky to get 170 in 2016.

No, President Obama was always ahead in the polls. Looking at all the polls RCP had for 2012, President Obama was always ahead of Romney from 1 Jan 2012 on by an average of 2-5 points until September 3-5 which they were tied, then Obama pulled ahead again by roughly 4 points until October 6th until November 1st which they took turns as to whom was leading in the polls. but beginning on 1 November President Obama once again regained the lead which he expanded each day until election day.

The video was really a non-issue as far as polls go.

I need to add, as far as the electoral college goes. Even when tied in the popular vote among the polls, Romeny always trailed by around 60 EV's even when the 7 swing states were in doubt.
