Do The Rich Pay Too Much Federal Income Taxes

Do The Rich Pay Too Much Income Taxes

there should be. there shouldn't be representation without taxation. people who don't contribute to the public treasury shouldn't be voting how it is spent

You may want to check with your copy of the Constitution. If yours has the same language as mine we have a provision against such a thing.

And actually, even if we could have your suggested restriction, it would be hard to find any adults who do not contribute to the so called "public treasury" in one form of tax or another.

And why, exactly, are your panties twisting into a knot about that fact?
I have roughly the same question of you. Why are your panties twisting into a knot about what think? It's free country isn't it?

oftentimes its because those with the knotted knickers believe they are smarter and more worthy than the wealthy and if they cannot be rich, those who are, shouldn't be

"Should" is a morally elusive concept.

As far as I'm concerned, the rich can have as much money as they can make until it starts causing socio-economic dysfunction and becomes self defeating.

Then what do you want? Do you want to force an employer to pay employees more than their market value?

The market values aren't properly set... I am not suggesting anything will change, just that rich people that make a ton of money complaining about having to pay more is so selfish that it makes them pathetic people.

I don't believe you or anyone else should have that power.

That's IMHO is anti-American thought.

Beautiful women get too much male attention and hideous women get too little male attention. OK. We've both noticed some pattern. Now how are we going to define what constitutes "too much" and "too little?"

Millions of dollars a year for any job is too much and barely able to afford to make a living wage is too little...

When I see KKK dudes riling up a riot against people they don't like, I want to tell them to STFU and disperse. When I see class warriors burning up with envy and trying to harm people, I want to tell them to mind their own business. What other people earn doesn't affect you. Your envy is something better discussed with your therapist than with a political mob.

My world is THE world. I am not sure where you get scared from... maybe supressed anxiety for opposing ideas?

So I am scared... a Marxist... what's next? This is getting good.

You're not sure where I got the word "scared" from? Maybe you should review your own posts. Alarmist views don't fly with me, and the only ones being suppressed are those able bodied individuals being given more to not produce rather than providing an environment for them to do so...

Then we should stop importing poor people and most of the problems will go away.

My father was the CFO of a Fortune 50 company. I know what he made - it was a lot. I know how hard he worked - it was a lot more than I do.

$500,000 a year isn't really that much money. What should a payroll clerk in a company make if the CEO is only making $500,000? Half of that?

There is nobody that works harder, intellectually, than my dad... a top scientist, and he makes a couple hundred K a year. He also is probably much more important to the nation that your dad... why would your dad deserve more money?

... and anybody that says that 500K isn't a lot of money has no idea what they are talking about... no offense. I make just under 100K and my life is just fine and dandy. Making over 5x's that amount is a lot of money.

The glue in your argument is that when one uses public resources for some form of private gain, then the public deserves the right to share in that private gain.

So, when a man meets a woman in a public park and a romance begins, then all members of the public may line up outside their bedroom and also partake of the hot kinky sex that is taking place because, after all, the only way that these two lovers could realize their passion was by first using public resources, the park, the sidewalk to walk to their car, the roads to drive to a nice restaurant, which also sits on a public street, etc.

The imposition the state is morally entitled to make on the individual is proportionate to the importance of the service.

Homeless men have the fewest obligations because they live mostly in the margins of society and have little to gain or lose in the country's day to day operations. A Chinese invasion or some other catastrophe is, at worst, an opportunity to loot, and at best, an opportunity for some real social climbing.

Rich men have quite a lot to lose if the state and its protective influence disappears. Their obligations are correspondingly higher.

So no, the general public has no right to watch the couple have sex because the couple hasn't imposed enough on common resources of society to justify such an intrusion.

yes way too much

Then we should stop importing poor people and most of the problems will go away.

Well, it is a good start... that is for sure.

Maybe you should try harder to become more productive and not be satisfied with your current situation before you judge the income of others...

I don't believe you or anyone else should have that power.

If my study of the human condition has taught me anything, its that nobody should have any power. The vast majority of human beings are greedy troublemakers.

If someone has to have power, it should be the people who care about other people.

Rich men have a tendency to care about themselves and their own interests, ahead of everyone and everything else. Not the best qualities for a public servant.

Now I am an alarmist? Yeah... take it easy bud.

You make a nice case for the rich being granted more voting power than the poor.

an excellent argument why government should not have the power to tell someone how much wealth they own

It appears crystal clear to me those who believe in distribution of wealth do so because they don't have to pay hardly a penny to fund all that they deem "fair". They also are most likely recipients of such entitlements. By introducing tax reform that made EVERYONE pay their fair share to cover the cost of all entitlement spending as well as funding the highways they use often and enjoy the idea of safe borders, then and only then will people realize that there is no such thing as a Rock Candy Mountain where money grows on trees and nothing is ever really free. Someone has to pay for it and that someone should include them. It would stop the feckless spending and this constant search of a new victim in need of entitlements. Instead personal responsibility may well be restored. Imagine that!

its the views of the founders: only landowners voted. those who contribute nothing to the treasury should not be able to vote themselves benefits others paid for

Maybe you should try harder to become more productive and not be satisfied with your current situation before you judge the income of others...

Didn't I just say that my life is fine and dandy? I golf and surf in the sunny South Pacific daily and but my posts sound scared and alarmist to you? I am quite confident that my childhood was the life styles of the rich and famous compared to probably everybody on this site... but go ahead and sound like a douche bag if you want. If you don't have anything better to offer then I will spend my time discussing things with those that can positively contribute and not make veiled ad homs...

:2wave:

Don't see why that follow. Wealth is power, and wealthy people tend to be the biggest and greediest troublemakers. Wouldn't want them to have more power.
