And maybe Estonia, Poland, and some of the other NATO countries that are currently under threat of Russian expansion.

    Send troops to Ukraine? No.

Rebuild the Iron Curtain except this time from our side within NATO countries and call it the Liberty Shield, and isolate Russia? Most definitely.
Everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made. If you want a different result, don't blame someone else, or expect others to make a change, you should stop complaining and make a different choice. Remember, the circumstances of your birth don't determine the outcome of your life.

No, just one neoconservative. However I think many more would agree with me. Using military tools and associated levers to oppose the advances of a hostile Great Power and one that is inimical to the interests of liberal and democratic hegemony.

Think of it this way, if the US invaded Mexico, would Russia intervene. I don't approve of Russia's actions, but why should we jump into their sphere of influence. Lets not reignite the Cold War

So, once again, the US can pick up the tab (like we have since 1945) for guarding Europe's frontiers while they grapple with austerity. And expanding high speed rail. And universal healthcare.

The only entitlement Republicans like is Europe feeling entitled to American protection (and defense dollars).

Just make sure you leave enough holes in the "shield" for Russian pipelines going west, and European money going east.

But seriously, building a wall is a horrible idea.

Using military tools did little to end the Cold War compared to the economic ones (ie increasing our dependence on saudi oil). Today, as long as our NATO allies are financing Russia's military expansion, there will be little accomplished by a bloated military budget.

No. I'm sick of the US trying to police other countries.

If Russia attacks us, then we go back at them. Russia hasn't attacked us.

    **** no.

The U.S. (and the rest of the world) already endured 40+ years of tit-for-tat with the Russians. It jeopardized the continuity of the human race on more than one occasion.

Plus, there is this: Electricity Grid in U.S. Penetrated By Spies - WSJ.com
Attacks on the electricity grid: US vulnerable to physical and cyberthreats

In Russia's last two conflicts (Georgia and now the Ukraine), it has used cyberattacks as a sort of opening salvo. The U.S. does not need blowback in the form of our power grid going down because we've defended the Ukraine from Putin.

    Just not worth it.

Not only no but **** NO! Heck we shouldn't even be sending any aid. The lives of Americans are way more important than the lives of the Ukrainians.American tax dollars should not be going to aid in the conflicts of other countries.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Re: Should the US Send Troops to Ukraine?

We should be learning something from our involvement in most recent conflicts - when you mess in others affairs and take sides, you become responsible for their well being. We are left cleaning up for years after the most recent conflicts and it has costed us trillions? in resources not to mention American lives. I feel we don't always have to be the world's police force. Less and less countries are stepping up to aid us as well when we step into these conflicts. I do believe we should stand up to terrorism though - and 9/11 demanded a show of force to remind people if you want to hurt America, you are going to get punched in the nose....hard. I can't help but think too, that the Republican Party has something to do with "pumping" the American people up to always be involved in some type of war - their party and the backers of their party benefit not to mention Republican support for defense spending. Lets focus on America for the next few decades and stay out of other countries unless it affects us directly. Lets get back to making America a United Union once again and still the greatest place on earth to be a citizen!
