And AGAIN, the reason Zimmerman/Martin blew up was because it appeared Zimmerman was going to get off scot-free.

The outrage here is simply because the victim in this case was white, and there's a cottage industry here that produces little more than faux outrage over perceived slighting of the white man, while simultaneously and without irony accusing those who don't share the same outrage over the lack of national media attention of "race hustling."

What happened to Trapuzzano was terrible, and the person who did it is human garbage. That said, it's not a national story. Zimmerman-Martin shouldn't have been either.
That's exactly why the story isn't getting attention. It lacks Al Sharpton and Barack Obama.

Obama didn't interject himself into the situation because the cops didn't arrest Martin until the Republican governor of Florida got a special prosecutor. He interjected himself by identifying with Martin's race.

And that story had already blown up before Obama ever said a word.

He "injected himself" into the story because he could relate to being racially profiled, as it appeared Martin had been (and I still think he was; I very strongly doubt Zimmerman would have followed a white guy).

The right-wing furor over this long-resolved case astounds me.

Will Obama make public comments on this guy's death? I doubt it.

Obama was racially profiled? Interesting. Is that why he wasn't able to get into a good college, get into a good law school, get good jobs, get elected to public office, get elected to the most powerful position in the world?

Not at all. The lack of evidence to the contrary, the verdict was probably the only one that could have been reached.

But he would have to be guilty for this to be in any way comparable. Don't let the simple fact that this is in no way comparable to Z/M stop you guys from playing the victim card though.

It's difficult to understand because understanding that wouldn't allow him to play the victim.

    According to him, yes.

Remarks by the President on Trayvon Martin | The White House

You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot I said that this could have been my son. Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago. And when you think about why, in the African American community at least, there’s a lot of pain around what happened here, I think it’s important to recognize that the African American community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences and a history that doesn’t go away.

There are very few African American men in this country who haven't had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me. There are very few African American men who haven't had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars. That happens to me -- at least before I was a senator. There are very few African Americans who haven't had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off. That happens often.

And I don't want to exaggerate this, but those sets of experiences inform how the African American community interprets what happened one night in Florida. And it’s inescapable for people to bring those experiences to bear. The African American community is also knowledgeable that there is a history of racial disparities in the application of our criminal laws -- everything from the death penalty to enforcement of our drug laws. And that ends up having an impact in terms of how people interpret the case.

    Obama whining. Nothing new.

Nathan Trapuzzano experienced being followed by a black kid with a gun in a dark street pre-dawn. That's a lot worse than being followed in a department store. My 3 white kids also get followed in department stores. I've seen it myself.

I'm not a victim. I'm alive. I think you're confusing me with Nathan Trapuzzano.

Right, because nothing says "not playing the victim" like running around screaming "I'm being persecuted! I'm being persecuted! The scary libruls are out to get me!"
