I did not read this whole thead and am not sure if it went off into race or something...but the kid that did the shooting is a 16 year old psychopath that should have been institutionalized when he was caught throwing rocks off overpasses at age 9. The kid was seen on the local news being takin to a hearing in chains by the sheriifs, he was laughing and giggling etc. A souless sick nut, but not national news.
    God Bless the Marine Corps.

The case I'm referring to is not just a simple robbery.

Considering the lack of airplay and national outrage, I'd say that is an accurate statement. Nevertheless, it's a symptom, not the disease.

Re: Have you heard of Nathan Trapuzzano?

Wow, mac, you're one of the last people I'd expect to create a race-baiting thread like this.

The difference in the Trayvon Martin case is palpable. An unarmed teenager was killed by a guy who'd been literally stalking him, and the police didn't even arrest the shooter. Why? Because of Florida's Stand Your Ground Law... that's why. Under SYG, the shooter simply had to tell the police that he feared for his life, then the police pat him on the back and send him home... because, as John Stewart so aptly put it, "He said, he dead", so only one side of the story was told and only one side was necessary according to SYG.

That is why it became national news as the outrage over the fact that a teenager could be gunned down a few steps from his own apartment, and the shooter just shrugged and said, "Hey, I was afraid" and poof! The police send him on his way even before the body was moved.

As for those who are using Al Sharpton, whom I despise, and Obama, for whom I have little use, as a scapegoat for the public outrage, may I remind you that neither of them said anything or had any knowledge of this case before the story went national, and made their statements after the story had become #1 news on all the media. They did not cause the public outcry; they responded to it.

I swear to god, people seem to shake their heads so hard their brains fly out their ears when it comes to this Martin/Zimmerman ****-storm, otherwise known as the story that will never die. I'm sick to death of seeing it brought up every time someone gets a bug up their ass to create yet another race-baiting thread.

    Amazing.

Mac asks a perfectly acceptable question, and he is accused of being a race baiter.

People are claiming that the national interest in the Martin case was because of a Florida law, and excusing Obama at the same time. Obama's words were not about Stand Your Ground - he was talking about Martin being followed by Zimmerman because Martin was black.

Obama spoke after Zimmerman was aquitted. His entire speech was about racial profiling.

    Talk about disingenuous comments.

Would you be outraged if both people involved were the same race? Or does that just not carry the same persecution baggage?

SYG and other laws is why Z/M took on a life of it's own. Obama didn't even comment on it until the pot had already been stirred up.

And the thread is classic race-baiting. He (and you) are outraged because a white victim isn't getting the same press as a black victim, and are bringing Z/M, Al Sharpton and Obama into it for no real reason other than to stoke the fires of persecution. It's not similar to Z/M in any respect whatsoever. It couldn't be more different from it if you tried to make it more different, and that's just the facts of the case if you completely look past anyone's race.

Don't try to rewrite history. Obama commented on it after the case was closed in the court of law.

There are race baiting threads all over this board. I'm sure you're calling out those posters as you called out Mac, yes?

I'm not outraged. I'm pointing out the irony of Obama commenting on the Martin situation after it had been decided - and with him having no evidence that Zimmerman trailed Martin simply because Martin was black. And there's no race baiting in that comment.
