I guess we could do that.
What does China have that we don't have?
Let's see....a horribly polluted environment, an authoritarian gov't, a population willing to work for slave wages, no pesky "business-killing" regulations.
Hmmph.....I'm doubtful that we will implement the changes that would make the USA desirable for Chinese-based manufacturers.
No matter how cynical I become toward politicians, it's never enough.

I think the majority of Americans are fat and happy and, therefore, disinterested in the problem....so far.

This is what cracks me up about those who toss the salad of business owners is their logic that somehow we should make ourselves like China in order to entice companies to produce goods in America. Those companies were producing goods in America before traitors in office signed trade agreements that lowered tariffs.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

There's lots that can be done, there's nothing that will be done though. So long as it is cheaper and easier for American companies to manufacture in China, they will continue to ship every possible job there. Lower production costs = higher profit. If we'd pass laws that required American companies to follow American laws regardless where they do business, things would change. If they had to follow all American labor laws, environmental laws, etc., plus forced them to pay the same wages everyone on the planet as they would here, they'd never manufacture overseas.

But we don't have the balls to do that.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.
