For a hobby. They don't have to play.

They are risking life long bodily harm and the schools are benefiting greatly.
They don't have to play. If it isn't fair they can quit.

The least they could do is pay for their medical bills. It's that simple.
The least they could do is not offer scholarships and make them pay tuition and get student loans.

These hobbyists are risking their health at their own digression to participate in their hobby. The fact that the school can off set some costs and provide better education for it's students is not wing in the least.

But the college doesn't place them in that position. THEY put themselves in that position. This argument is diffusing the responsibility from the choice of the athlete and is placing it on the college

Well in many schools those athletes are putting asses in seats and eyeballs on TV ads padding the bottom line. Fact is they do get tuition which is a kind of in kind pay, but the basic quid pro quo is still a relationship akin to employer/employee.

Nevertheless, really who cares? Employee or not, they have an independent right to associate with each other.

They are playing the game for the school. The school is 100% responsible for any medical bills that arise from the playing of that sport.

Maybe they "should" by some moral argument but that doesn't mean that they should be forced to. That's what ACA is for yes?

They facilitate a program which, by no mystery, frequently produces injury. His college course, on the other hand, does not.

Has it really gotten to this nation that every decision should be paid for by other people?
