From the history with Native Americans, to treaties concerning Germany, Poland and Russia, to Ukraine, it would seem the best way to understate a military treaty between nations is to write a "NOT!" in front of it.

Do military treaties have any value? Or are the worthless at best and often just trickery?

Only if the winner keeps his foot on the throat of the loser for eternity. Otherwise...no.

Ask the members of NATO.

That IS my opinion.

The member nations of NATO obviously see value in the treaty.

You mean their/our treaty with Ukraine?

Treaties, like any contract, are only as valid as the enforcement authority makes them. The problem with any contract, agreement or treaty is who, if anyone, will enforce the terms (and how). Having a contract often makes you legally entitled to damages for its terms being violated but getting a court judgement for $1 million is not the same as actually getting paid that $1 million. ;)

I think we are being chumps in NATO for how much of a share we pay in defense of the other NATO countries.

Just because some were made and broken doesn't mean they're all worthless.

I consider myself a nationalist.I believe nations should act in their own interests. The US should wean itself off of trying to make the world it's bitch.

If you are a rogue government, they have value when you want them to, and none when you don't want them to. Take the US government, for example....
