Re: Do you support non-discrimination laws that protect our rights?

Did I say one word about taking your rights away from you?

No, I did not.

If you can't deal with equal rights for every human being, maybe you're living in the wrong country.

Except the law does take my rights away. The law can't make rights equal by stripping one party of their rights to give someone else more than their rights.

Re: Do you support non-discrimination laws that protect our rights?

I'm an egalitarian. I want everyone to have equal rights across the board with no preferential treatment shown for anyone for any reason.

Re: Do you support non-discrimination laws that protect our rights?

1.)Some interesting info on this topic and yes I will be the first to admit my knowledge on this subject is limited. It is your main interest but at the bottom of my list.

"The Senate passed a historic piece of gay rights legislation Thursday that would ban workplace discrimination against gay and transgender employees, another milestone victory for a gay rights movement that has been gaining favor in the courts and electoral politics. The 64 to 32 vote to approve the Employment Non-Discrimination Act marked the first time federal lawmakers had approved legislation to advance gay rights since repealing the military’s ban on gay men and lesbians in uniform in late 2010. Approval of the measure came two days after Illinois became the 15th state to legalize same-sex marriage and four months after the U.S. Supreme Court sanctioned federal recognition of legally married gay couples. But ENDA faces a steep uphill climb in a GOP-controlled House still dominated by social conservatives. House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) and his lieutenants think the measure is too broad and is unnecessary; they think that the people ENDA is intended to protect are already covered under existing federal, state and private workplace protection laws.

I didn't see the part I put in bold. Maybe I missed it but it seems many people think this is redundant legislation.

If you think that the 1964 Civil Rights Act law has taken away any of your rights you will get no sympathy from me.

I'm not looking for your sympathy or even your approval, but just stating a fact.

the ENDA bill was referred to

of course Boehner thinks because "stereo typical" his team doesnt support equal rights for gays

but that but there's no logic behind his thoughts, if you or him disagree the solution is simply. all one would have to do to make thier point is point out where sexual orientation is covered, its not, hence this bill and the 1000s that are at state, county, municipality and even corporate levels

Re: Do you support non-discrimination laws that protect our rights?

1.)he premise of the thread is of course wrong. 2.)There is nothing about non-discrimination laws that protect rights.

1.)the thread premise is based on facts
2.) factually false

I have explained to you many times exactly why you don't understand human rights and I have no reason to explain it to you again.

Re: Do you support non-discrimination laws that protect our rights?

Thanks, J, for the " other " option.....
Yes !
I do .....mainly....support equal rights....but ONLY if people are kind and sensitive.....
Many are not.....this may be a problem....
"Mainstream"
Ha!
Libertarians are Libert-stream ....LOL...
There is more, much more to life, than "rights" .

you're welcome

in the super vast majority of my polls like this i include other or some other out. IMO the majority of POLLS need to have an other and be public or they are a waist

yes you gave me your meaningless opinions and philosophies many times and each time facts defeated them and proved your opinions and philosophies to be meaningless so i agree theres no reason to have them destoryed by facts again, the result will always be the same. Facts winning.

The 1964 Civil Rights Act has been the law of the land in the USA for 50-years, and 50-years from now it will still be the law of the land, it isn't going away.

So I suggest that you deal with it.

Court cases are the opinion of nine idiots and prove nothing. Laws can be in violation of human rights, so again, they prove nothing. Rights are on my side, not yours.

Re: Do you support non-discrimination laws that protect our rights?

SSDD.

Agent J sets the question up, frames the issue and then claims his opinions are facts. He'll go on for pages more with this idiotic tactic.

Waste your time doing whatever you want to waste your time doing, but as long as there are people in the USA who would like to deny others their civil rights, the 1964 Civil Rights Act is going to be around to prevent that.

You don't have the right to use someones property against their will, force someone to associate with you, or get service from someone against their will. Sorry, but people have the right to discriminate for any reason what so ever. If people want to call coercion civil rights, they are more than welcome to it, but they are wrong.
