1) Every illegal immigrant in the US will fill out a piece of paperwork giving their name, DOB, etc.

2) Upon filling out the paperwork, they will be automatically enrolled in the current line to become a US citizen, and they will be granted permanent legal status until they become US citizens (providing they commit no serious felonies)

3) There will be no new citizenship line created; the current illegals will be sent to the back of the current line to become a US citizen. If this line needs to be sped up, it will be sped up. However, the illegals do not need to go back to their home country or anything; they just need to fill out a piece of paperwork.

4) If the INS finds them and finds out they haven't filled out the paperwork, they will be given the paperwork and instructed to fill it out. No one will be deported for filling out the paperwork.

Deporting the illegals will be way too expensive. BUT, the only way I would agree to this is if they have no criminal record in their home country, they pay a fine for coming here illegally and they then pay their fair share of taxes. They also can't use ANY public tax money to support themselves... including healthcare, until they have been paying taxes for at least a year. And, MOST IMPORTANTLY, SECURE THE BORDER so that no more illegals can cross... ever again. Every other country in the world has a secure border. There is no reason that we can't have one too. I am so tired of liberals trying to tell us it's wrong to secure it. The moment we grant any kind of amnesty, there will be a mad rush across the border again. Thus exasperating the problem. WE CAN'T AFFORD IT.

Wow, amnesty plus an automatic path to citizenship for anyone who can cross a border, into perpetuity. That won't destroy our social safety net by flooding it with new recipients or send already sky-high low-income-demographic unemployment rates rocketing upwards or anything.

Good idea. Next we should save a bunch of money by dis-arming the DOD and instead instructing the State Department to enact foreign policy by asking people "pretty please." No one can resist a Pretty Please.

Any illegal immigration plan that doesn't include moats, crocodiles, and a modern day take on Einsatzgruppen or the KZ system is weak sauce.

Asshole.
But you knew that already. What you didn't know is that you're destined to be strangled. I've got the sight...

The 12+ million illegals currently in the US will never be deported. Many of you are going to have to give up this fantasy where the government hunts down 12 million people and kicks them out of the country. The illegals are here to stay, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Your plan will never get support of the American people to pass. You are going it have to give up this fantasy where the government just says "hey, no problem, welcome here. **** those guys who did it right" and let's people in.

Now that we're done just carte Blanche declaring things a "fantasy", let's move onto your strawman.

I never suggested we need to deport 12 mil people. I think through a combination of:

1) greater focus on enforcement on employers with stiffer penalties
2) legal action against states/cities whose laws allow aid and abet those who are here breaking our laws to remove the institutional help for them in some areas
3) deportation of any found through routine administration of the law
4) strengthened border security and infrastructure
5) reworked system of various temporary visas
6) streamlined legal immigration process

Will help deport, drive away, and keep away illegal immigrants to a higher degree than currently. At which point, once these processes are firmly in place and clearly not changing, then and only then would I perhaps begin to look at methods for dealing with some who have managed to stay here by otherwise being law abiding citizens.

I think we could create some form of a path to citizenship thru registration of the current illegals. But I'd definitely strengthen the border and use whatever means necessary to cripple the Cartels responsible for trafficking.

My plan:
~Close the border.
~Issue devastating business-ending life-ruining civil and criminal penalties to anyone who hires even 1 illegal for a single day.
~Reform the current line to verify the immigrant is:
  • In the country legally;
  • Have the means to sustain themselves economically;
  • Not destined to be burdens on society;
  • Of economic and social benefit to society;
  • Of good character and have no criminal records;
  • And contributors to the general well-being of the nation.
  • Ineligible to vote for 25 years after attaining citizenship.

I don't think a single way can be found that is fair or right.

I think for people who were brought here at a young age there should be allowances made. It's not like a 4 year old has any say in where their parents take them or has any sort of 'home' to go back to. They may have spent the majority of their lives here and understandably would consider themselves from here.

For those who came when they were adults a different system needs to be devised. They knew what they were doing was wrong. I can see a relatively stiff penalty or even deportation being done.
Nope, deport all illegals regardless.

Ain't gomma happen.

And where would you send kid that was brought here at age one and grew up here? Just drop them over the border into country where they can't even speak the language and say good luck?

Loo k at the sig.

USA is full. No immigration at all untill average wage is $20 hr.

Yes.

They are not citizens. They have no right to be here.

Do you think we are going to tolerate them working and US citizens not?

Asshole.

While the ad hominem attack on me personally is noted I note also that you can't argue with the brilliance of my plan.

How do you indeed to carry out number 1? given that they are probably keeping their heads down.

"Illegal immigrant" it is culprit of a crime. "Illegal immigrant" should be punished for his crime. "Illegal immigrant" should be permanently excluded from the lists of legal immigration. And people like you, shall be punished as accomplices of the crime.

Nab the illegal employers first - they are less "accomplices" and more masterminds.;)

1. Remove the EIOR from the DoJ and put the functions back under INS
2. Expand the immigration courts so that they can process cases faster
3. Institute a national program where employers who knowingly hire illegals lose their right to hire employees for 5 years on a first offense and permanently on a subsequent offense
4. If an individual is found to be here illegally they will be subject to deportation
5. If someone was brought into the country illegally as a child they will be subject to deportation as will their parents or whoever brought them here
6. If someone is here illegally and has a child that child can stay but they have to go
7. Institute a streamlined and sponsored program for temporary workers. Temporary means one year or less and the temp worker can not be accompanied.
8. If you can get a green card before you get caught then you win. If not, see you later
9. Drop the 5 year LPR requirement for N-400 eligibility to 2 years
10. Militarize the border

^^^^^
This. Not only "yes", but "Hell Yes!!"

And that's perfectly fine, I just don't want to see companies that can keep their illegal activities under the radar, I want everyone to get checked. While they're there, these agents can check for irregularities of all kinds, such as paying employees under the table, etc. I want every company to operate on a level playing field and I don't care if that's Walmart or the local mom & pop store. Everyone gets treated the same and everyone is held to the same standards.

Many immigrants work for individuals as maids, nannies, gardners etc. To be effective, the INS should also check every residence that appears to have an owner that is middle class or wealthier.

While it's hard to get information specifically on illegal immigrants because, obviously, they're not very open to providing data, immigrants, both legal and illegal, tend to use welfare at a rate much higher than native-born citizens, 57% vs. 39%.

https://cis.org/immigrant-welfare-use-2011

That is a deceptive figure. If a household has a citizen legally getting government benefits that also includes an immigrant, either legal and illegal, they are counting that as if the immigrant received the benefit, even though the immigrant may have no financial relationship with the benefit recipient. Illegal immigrants rarely apply for government benefits because they risk deportation if they do.

You can imagine this fantasy all you want. It's not going to happen.

I'll be happy to start with big companies and work my way down, the majority of illegals will be caught at big companies and agriculture. We'll get to them too.

amnesty.... plain and simple, is what you propose.

during Reagan's amnesty plan it was estimated the u.s. would receive 1 million new people in the u.s. , but in reality it was 3 million.

give their name and DOB?......how are we to verify that?

full out a paper and sooner of later your going to be made a citizen?........what are you going to do about the millions of illegals who enter the u.s. after you have made this decree known?

the only way to hinder illegal immigration is to deny employment to illegals and any benefits from governments.

fine, jail and revoke the business licenses of people who hire illegals, causing illegals to self-deport.

to stop the flow,........ you take away the attraction.

You CAN'T be this naive! Fill out paperwork? As if a murderer or thief or sex offender from Mexico is going to state his real name and DOB, so his background can be checked?

Give legal status to sex offenders and others who haven't had their backgrounds checked? Are you nuts? Maybe they haven't been caught yet in the U.S., but give them legal status based on what? The fact that they successfully broke the laws?

These murderers, thieves, and sex offenders you speak of are already fugitives. They can't get legal status even under my proposed plan, because it would show up on the background check. As for how the information on the paperwork will be verified, it will be verified the same way that it is verified when people come here legally. Remember, most illegals didn't get here by sneaking over the border; most illegals entered the US by getting a legal temporary green card or whatever and then just never left.
