    But the question is in part about positions and principles. Why haven't Republicans reduced spending when it's what they promise to do every election cycle? I don't think more spending is good, but at least I know Democrats are not liars when they promise to increase spending.

    well, your question concerned individuals, not party platforms. But if we are talking about platforms and larger trends, then the issue is that cutting spending is always going to piss someone off politically.

    also, you're kind of drawing a false equivalency in your poll. The democrat policy position that more mirrors spending cuts would be tax increases. While the republican position that mirrors increased spending would be tax cuts.
