I don't buy it. 'Liberal' is probably the most abused term in politics, by both ends of the spectrum. It still means what it always has, my opinion. It's not just anything that isn't conservative (and 'conservative' is probably the second-most misused term).

Dems and Republicans are like the exact same. They all talk about lowering the debt, getting people back to work, and helping Americans escape poverty, while in reality neither accomplish any of that.

That's because both of them are trying to buy votes. Neither can risk solving any problems and moving their base away from their pushbutton issues.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

Liberal is a term related to acceptance and belief in the need of change to new ideas. Politically in the US, it has gone from those who readily accept/seek change to new ideas to being the new term for Socialist who want to pretend they are not really socialist. It's like the term "gay", which once meant the highest level of happiness but nor means homosexuals even though homosexuality has absolutely nothing to do with the original meanings of the word. The political use of the term liberal today has absolutely nothing to do with the original meanings of the word.

Re: Who's More Likely Telling The Truth?

Why on Earth would a liberal politician's desire to increase federal spending be questioned...isn't that what many of them fantasize over?

As for Rep's cutting spending? If it involves cutting one penny from Defense spending...no chance. America could be spending 125% of her GDP on the military and I guarantee you there would be some conservative, Neo-con who thinks it's not enough.

Liberal politicians fantasize about more welfare and Obamacare.

Conservative politicians fantasize about more tanks and aircraft carriers.

They are both clueless about this and if left to their own devices, will unintentionally destroy America.

But that does bring up another question. Why would anyone consider the Republican Party to have any credibility when they haven't done what they said they'd do for the past 30 years?

I would say it depends on the individual in question. Not sure why so many people think the most important aspect of a politician is the party they adopt, as opposed to their positions and principles
