Thank God too. North Korean occupation would basically be Hell on earth.

Maybe it could work like a double negative, and we could convince them that in order to really punish us they should abandon us to the ravages of a completely free market?

Hey, why not? Makes about as much sense as anything else in "best" Korea, right?

India, probably 30% of my company is made up of people from India, they are sharp minded and like to keep things moving forward

The decision appears to have been made: our new overlords will be Indians.

The year is 2037. Due to major shifts in alliances, the decline of our economy and the rise of others, as well as a techno-jargon explanation for the elimination of our nuclear arsenal that would sort of make sense in an episode of Star Trek, the United States has been invaded and conquered. Which nation would you choose to rule over you as your overlord?

No, there is no "other," because then you'd all pick Canada, Finland or New Zealand. You only get choices you'll hate.

Bangladesh
China
Mexico
Pakistan
India
Indonesia
Philippines
Ivory Coast
Viet Nam

It is historically reasonable that the United States will quit "ruling the world" before 2025. This is a reasonable thing to think about. This day is coming. India, Pakistan and China are realistic possibilities. Pakistan is a long shot but they seem to be psychotic enough to use their nuclear weaponry and garner a great deal of hate for India. I choose China. They have a great culture, a great economy, a great language and a large amount of people. I surely want them on our side. It sure would suck if it ends up being one of those other countries. I would hate to be ruled by India or Pakistan but I would tolerate it if it became necessary. The other choices are unrealistic but those countries would be too weak to maintain their power. I wouldn't want to be siding with them.

China, hands down.

This is the problem Obama is having right now. Most Conservative Americans will fight to the death before surrendering to anybody, particularly the worthless 3rd world countries listed.

World War 3 was avoided because of the actions of one humble man. His name was Mikhail Gorbachev. The United States will lose power with in the next several decades. I hope we can lose this power without a war but I doubt Americans are humble enough to accept the inevitabilty of our future. You can't rule the world forever. The longest it has happened is 80 years. We got started in the 1940's. Kids born between 1997-2007 will be the ones dying in vain if we become to arrogant to accept our fate. Both of my children were born during that time period. I hope we accept reality when the time comes to turn our key over to China. Possibly India.

Tensions were hardly at a peak during Gorbachev's era. More like during Khrushchev's, but the relative reforms by Andropov and Chernenko eased much tensions.

Have you ever tried to learn Chinese?

Have you ever tried to learn Chinese?

No but I do know about the complexities of the language. It sounds very overwhelming. I know a lady from Taiwan that is willing to teach me. Supposedly the Chinese language was reformed in the 80's to make it more modern. The Taiwanese reject modern Chinese. Is the modern Chinese just as difficult as the old language? There is a picture for each word. Every part of the character tells a little story about the word. It sounds very elaborate from what little I know. How much do you know about the Chinese language?

It would be beneficial for Americans to learn Chinese even if it is a little difficult. Americans have little incentive to learn another language because all world literature has already been translated into English. A hostile regime change might provide sufficient motivation to make Chinese the official language of these United States. It sounds like a winner to me.

Modern Chinese still has thousands of characters to remember. Trying to explain the language is almost as difficult as trying to learn it. Although English and most Western languages are based on alphabets and therefore easy to learn, Chinese is not.

Ugh. I may have to learn it, too. I am not looking forward to that.

I like Indian food.

I suppose I could get used to Bollywood.
Civilized people, enjoy soccer, fine with guns, they have nukes, women are the opposite of bad looking, rock and roll
Sure, India it is.

Can we judge this on the women?

I would have to go with China then.

None of the above, I would be dead. If not by natural causes by then, then from fighting to stay free.

Suit yourself. I like being alive. Besides I'd still have my netflix. 'sides India wouldn't be too bad. We'd probably all still get the vote. Cheer up!

It would depend on a ton of things.

Are these countries exactly the same then as now?

Why did they invade? Was it because America started it for some paranoid reason? Or was America simply invaded for no good reason?

Was the U.S. Government horribly corrupt? Or relatively benign?

Will the standard of living go up under the conquers...or go down?

Too many questions to answer.

Btw, if you are asking me which of the listed countries would I rather live in? India.
