Not funding school transportation here didn't seem to hurt anyone. Then again, I don't live in a ghetto so I can only speak to my specific situation. They eliminated school bus service at all closer to, I think, 2 miles from school. You cannot ride a bus under any circumstances, no matter how much you pay, unless you are disabled, if you live closer to school than that. Anyone else outside of that radius has to pay to ride the bus if they want. It is the responsibility of the parents to get their children to school. Welcome to personal responsibility.

Which you cherry pick. If you truly believed in people paying their own way, then people would have to pay the full costs of educating their own children which is not how our current system operates. A lot of the costs are migrated due to it being spread through society. If people had to pay the full costs to educate their child(ren) only a small sector of people would have educated children. Enough with the me only attitude.

My property taxes pay for the education of my children. If I wanted to put them into a private school, I'd pay both my taxes and the full cost of their private education. I could afford it too, but they happen to have excellent public schools available to them so I don't make that choice.

This is really getting rather silly. You're not responding to what I'm saying, you're going "but wait! What about this?"

HA, you're the one not responding to what is being said. The whole theme you tried to argue is I don't need to pay for others just myself.

It's that everyone needs to be personally and fiscally responsible to pay for themselves. Welcome to reality.

Right, and that is why I mentioned it would be unaffordable for most Americans to pay the full costs of educating their children, hence the need to migrate those costs across society.

Then maybe most Americans need to get their act in gear and be more responsible.

He has no reason to pay for them though. They are not his children, not his responsibility, and not his concern if they get educated or not. Could it affect him? Without doubt, but in the end, you can not claim he should be held responsible for something he isn't otherwise responsible for.

It's a shift of philosophy. Education is publicly funded as in through the public/community. Now some believe that individuals should pay for full costs. Most people are not this extreme with their thinking as they know it is not realistic.

That's what they do. When they lose in one area they just move to another and pretend it's all the same discussion..

No, that's what he was doing. This discussion had nothing to do with him wanting or not wanting to send his kids to private/public schools:2razz:

I didn't bring up private schools, you did.

You said this Communities voting not to fund school transportation is not just an individual situation. It is becoming more prominent as the mind set of I don't care about my community is becoming more prominent. That is not to be confused with you being able to transport your children to and from school.

No one said they did not care about their community. That's a false claim made by you in an effort to deflect from the central issue, and that's what leftists naturally do.

Re: What is your level of optimism concerning the future of the United States of Amer

Yes and you acted, through your false assumptions, without a great deal of thought.

Not being willing to pay for the public resources in ones community speaks volumes no assumptions needed.

You again make the false assumption that there is only one way to provide public services and that those who don't follow your one-dimensional beliefs are somehow acting against the interests of their community..

Give me an example of an alternative. TIA

Desabalized Society? I'm not from the USA I recently moved here but I am curious why you believe that. I though feminism movement was to be able to vote and work with the same wages as men... I don't know how that could destroy the family lifestyle.... could you eleborate ?

That was first wave feminism, of which I am a very big promotor of. The current feminist ideology demonizes men and puts them constantly on the defensive. Young men today are lead to believe they are evil.. Sexual predators, murderers, rapists, just bad people. Men in western society are the lowest of the low even in their own opinions. It's really crazy that the feminist doctorine has been so successful as to even convince some men that they are complete pigs and worthless themselves. I have never seen a group of people in history that has been successfully subjigated by their own kind. It's called the "white knight" syndrome. It is a sad sad state of affairs where men place women on pedestals allowing them to act however they want. It has gotten so bad that even the judicial system supports their anti male, disgusting behavior. Just go to a bar or club on any night and you will see this white knight bullcrap being acted out right infront of your eyes.

Re: What is your level of optimism concerning the future of the United States of Amer

That's your opinion.

Which you are entitled to and with which I and the majority of Americans disagree.

Misogyny has done a lot more damage to the USA than feminism ever did.

"Tolerance is giving to every other human being every right that you claim for yourself." ~ Robert Green Ingersoll

Really? Although I agree that it is good that it is nearly gone from society, it has not done near the damage the current feminist movement has done. Crime rates are much higher now then they were back in 50's and 60's.. More children are born out of wedlock and divorces are at an all time high.. I don't see how anyone could possibly say things have improved under feminism for society as a whole.

Many factors affect one's outlook about various things - history, current events, politics, religion, media, family & friends, personal character traits, life experiences, environment, upbringing, education, etc. etc. etc.

Just curious. Nothing ulterior, just curiosity.

What is your outlook re the future of the United States of America - and maybe why?

As a non-American, I am somewhat optimistic about the future of the USA. In America, I admire, despite all shortcomings, errors and sins, the unbroken optimism and the American capacity for self-correction.

America has been in crisis many times, yet it has always managed to get out of it again on its own. America has made many serious mistakes in the past, yet always corrected them eventually.

America may be arrogant, self-absorbed and totally idiotic rather often, yet it has a much better historical track record than my country, and I'm inclined to say, probably most other countries on this planet. I like Germany today more than America, which isn't surprising, as Germany is my home. But if things really get tough, I have the weird feeling that America would react better on it than my people. America may go too far, but it has always known when too far is becoming way too far and stopped. Germans would go way too far. ;)

So yeah, I trust America and its future more than I like it. ;)

A country without morals doesn't have a hope.
