I am Irish, a few generations removed. Both sides of the family are from Ireland. But if anything I suspect the French might think my American Southern accent to be some sort of weird Irish dialect.

Been to Paris, loved it. At this time, I'll give the trip to someone who has never had the pleasure of traveling, or donate it to Make-a Wish.

I've never been to any southern states. I have no idea how hot it is. I know here in the summer in MA, we flock to the beaches because it's always 10 degrees cooler on the coast than inland. I was kind of surprised that Corpus Christi was SO hot because it's a coastal city.
Sea breeze helps a bit, but it can only do so much out in the desert. I doubt Corpus Christi's anywhere near as bad as Kuwait, but when the breeze came in off the ocean at Arifjan, it'd actually only makes things worse.

It'd be like 110 degrees outside, and you'd have like 100% humidity on top of it.

The biggest problem I had was that most people simply wouldn't speak english to me. They all seemed to understand it well enough, they just chose not to speak it.

Given that I don't speak any real French whatsoever, this made for some irritating experiences at restaurants and on the train ride home when I was trying to buy tickets. I also avoided the subway like the plague.

I didn't want to get lost.

    What's your answer, and why?
Uh, yeah. What have you got against Katmandu? Why not Katmandu? The goatherds come into town on Friday night and get drunk through Saturday night, and all you have to offer is the Louvre and crap like that.

I dig Paris. I'd go even it it meant paying for the trip....I have before. Anybody who buys the French hate Americans...feel free to. Maybe government to government problems exist, but I never found that to be the case with ordinary people when I was traveling in France. Nobody was ever the least bit condescending or disrespectful. Actually, quite the opposite.

I voted no. I have no real interest in Paris or any of it's neighboring area's. With the exception of Ireland there is not much in that region I care to see. If i am taking the time off to travel I'm going someplace it's warm whether I am paying for it or not.

I'd go to pyongyang on my own dime, just to see it (though there are numerous other places I would rather travel to first). And the only reason I wouldn't go to Mogadishu is due to the very real safety concerns.
