Would You Take a Free Trip to Paris?

Would You Take a Free Trip to Paris?

I would take a free trip to Paris because I live in Minneapolis, and the weather here is ridiculous. We just had about three straight days of temperatures below zero, and it was 20 below zero less than a week ago. Living through a winter here is a victory in itself, but it takes a toll on you. The longer you go through it (to a point I suppose) the harder it is. Last winter really only ended in June, and this one started in November. That's half of the year.

I choose to have a job that helps people but I make very little money for it. So vacations are hard to come by. If you want to have a miserable life, try to be a good person.

It's a dirty, crowded, expensive, and unwelcoming city..

What you say is true of the centre and the tourist routes, though even those parts of Paris remain architecturally beautiful.
No, the locals are not generally welcoming to tourists who arrogantly ask a question in English without even preceeding it with a "Parlez-vous anglais?" though you may be lucky and stumble accross somebody who wants to practise their English.
Speaking a bit of French goes a long way - you'll get a totally different reception.
I recommend that in a week you'd also have time to get out and see the greener, calmer suburbs (Sceaux, Fontainbleau etc.) but know where you're going as there are some dog rough suburbs too, as in any major city.
The museums, food, and landmarks are nice though. First class wine too...

Right on.
I didn't get to check out Versailles .

You missed a treat. Not just the château, but the town itself too.

That might be one actual example, but I'd counter that we are equally anti-North Korean.

That would be true only if you consider "Not caring in the slightest" to be anti something.

Depends.

If I could turn in the tickets/etc. for the money, I would do that.

And if I couldn't, it depends what the trip is like.

Coach airplane tickets, crappy hotel, no spending money...forget it.

Business class airline seats, nice hotel, good spending money...okay.

Btw - if by 'Paris' you mean a new restaurant called 'Paris' located in Hull with condom machines in the bathrooms..forget it.

It warmed up as the day went on, thankfully. However, it was friggin' freezing outside when I went to work at 6 am this morning.

It's going to be cold again here on Sunday, so I don't want to hear it! :2razz:

Just a simple poll to see how many of you would take a free trip to Paris for a week if it were given to you tomorrow, to be redeemed sometime in the near future.

What's your answer, and why?

No I already been there. Would much rather got to Nice or Monte Carlo
