He claims he had nothing to do with the bridge closure, it was his aide that did it.

Yes, He's toast

No, he's still in the running

I Don't Know

If so, good riddance.

He's still in the running. It's a bit of a complication, but he's handling it well. Even managed to lighten the mood at the press conference with some laughs after very serious tones. Every politician runs into something like this at some point in their careers, so very few adversaries can throw much more than pebbles at this. So long as the fallout is limited to this, I think he's fine.

I think I will wait until the aide's book comes out. :2razz:

Sure, if Benghazi-gate ruined Clinton's.

If I was an extreme conservative and it was Obama's aide who closed the bridge I would be sure to keep the story alive and call for his impeachment endlessly right up to the day he left office (and even then I'd be sure to bring it up for the next four years, and not forget to exaggerate it each time I told it). However, I'm not, the story is largely irrelevant, so I won't.

Unless something comes out showing he ordered it or had direct knowledge of it, I doubt it.

It just solidifies his candidacy as a democrat! Please encourage him to switch parties so he can be where he belongs.

I agree with you, I think he handled the press conference very well. If he's lying, he does it well.

He will get asked a few more times, then go off like the fat assed bully he is. He is done as a politician.

It is too soon to tell. So long as he can maintain plausible deniability he is probably good to go. Of course the media is going to keep gnawing away now that they have their teeth into it, so who knows what lies ahead.

Naaaa.

Many political figures had moronic followers and advisors and didn`t fall because of their stupidity.

I remember 2 years ago an adviser to a German politician hired private detectives to nonstop spy on the opposition candidate.

It had legal consequences for the advisor but not for the politician he was "advising".

A thought just came to mind: If he does go on to run for president, how much scrutiny will be placed on traffic patterns and aberrations across the country leading up to the election?

There is no doubt but that the story will be part of the campaign and it will probably be supported by a bunch of other stories. In that respect it's just typical campaign trash.

During the Bush administration there were a total of 53 attacks on US embassies and staff.

How many congressional hearings and opposition frenzies did that provoke?

It certainly is a big bump in the road. Time will tell how this plays out.

Unless something ties him to it personally, he's fine.

So far the story is "aide did something bad, aide got fired." If the aide DIDN'T get fired, that might hurt him....

It's never the scandal-it's the cover up. If theThe Obama administration would have simply told the truth from the get -go, the story would have disappreared in 5 minutes.

Same applies to Christie - if he IS lying about his involvement, he is through.
