    3. Better education.

How we do that is certainly very debatable, but those 3 things would have more of a positive impact towards reducing poverty than just about anything else.
    4. Require people to take responsibility for their actions and suffer the consequences thereof. That'll solve things real quick.

Easier said than done. Few people are willing to sit idly by and let a kid go without a home or without food because of the poor choices of their parents. Few people are going to let someone die outside of a hospital just because they are not able to pay for their own care.

No, it's not easier said than done. It just takes willpower. If a kid is not being taken care of by the parent(s), take the kid away. If someone needs emergency medical care, take care of them, then make sure they pay for it in the end. Don't allow anyone to get non-emergency care for free in the emergency rooms. It's not my fault that Americans largely lack balls.

In most cases that is not legally possible and even if it were, it would cost more to make the kid a ward of the state than it would to provide assistance to the family. Moreover, it would be extremely traumatic to the kids to break up the family like that.

If someone needs emergency medical care, take care of them, then make sure they pay for it in the end.
Right, because its quite easy to recoup tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills from someone in the working poor…

Don't allow anyone to get non-emergency care for free in the emergency rooms.
Impractical unfortunately because as soon as someone died as a result of being turned down care because they were deemed as not being an emergency, a huge lawsuit would result. A better solution would be to have urgent care centers next to emergency rooms so that non-emergencies could be treated by a nurse practitioner at a fraction of the cost.

The problem is that most Americans have a conscious and have to be able to sleep at night, thus they have a hard time breaking up families or denying people medical care. I suspect you have a conscious as well and push come to shove, you couldn't do it either.

I believe many poor are misinformed and brainwashed by the media which pretends to care for the poor in order to fool them, like the Fox News pretends to be Christian and non main stream when it is in fact an international network itself. same with liberal networks such as MSNBC. same with so called public networks such as PBS - nothing public about it, so what if they get government funding and collect donations - it's management is never elected - they are all fraud. ANYWAY, try to think outside the TV box and ask YOURSELF from deep within - which is the best way to combat poverty, REALLY.... I will discuss my opinion later on.
I think we need to focus on our own country before we try to save the world. As much as im not saying end all foreign aid, you have to admit that when your own people are suffering you help them out before you help the people who are thousands of miles away.
War is not a tool to satisfy your emotional outbursts.

Laws change, we do it all the time. I'm not overly worried about causing trauma to the kids, I care about fixing the problem once and for all. It's no more traumatic for a kid to go live with someone else than it is for the kid to have insufficient food, clothing, etc. I'd argue that it's less so.

Right, because its quite easy to recoup tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills from someone in the working poor…
I didn't say it would be easy, I just want people to understand that there's no free lunch. The working poor and the destitute usually have Medicare anyhow, which will cover their expenses. Many states have funds which help the poor with medical bills. I had a friend who was unemployed and went into the hospital with kidney failure, he had no money and the state paid the majority of his expenses. Even though he had no income, they still sent him a bill for some amount, I don't remember how much but it was a couple of thousand dollars, and he had to pay that off before he ever saw a tax refund again after he was working.

The legal system needs a major overhaul. There's way too much entitlement-happiness in this country. People don't just deserve things because they want them.

The problem is that most Americans have a conscious and have to be able to sleep at night, thus they have a hard time breaking up families or denying people medical care. I suspect you have a conscious as well and push come to shove, you couldn't do it either.
And that's why this country is going to hell. We've raised a couple of generations of idiot liberals who think the world owes them, and everyone else, a living. I have no problem punishing anyone who makes bad decisions, acts irresponsibly and has their hand out to the government. Bailing them out time and time again only encourages them to continue their poor life choices. That's what's ruining this country.

Poverty won't disappear while we worship at the altar of competition and profit. Nor shall it be resolved by maligning people as 'losers'. It's not a magic word. Apathy and self-interest are the chief signatures of our time. No one cares for the poor until they can't be ignored. So we'll continue on our present course until the system collapses, as it inevitably must. Resources are finite and the rich-poor divide can't widen forever. When the **** hits the fan, there'll be revolution. The whole thing will domino, and we'll have Socialism or some other economic format that closely resembles it. For those that cling to the fool's hope of addressing the issue with charity or some stillborn political initiative, how's that worked out so far?

In large part, only ideology has served to waylay the inevitable for as long as it has. It may not happen in our lifetimes, but it's in the mail.

    Tick Tock.

Should it be started by restricting US military all over the world? or Americans are special, and this only applies to the poor people who come into USA?
