Uhum, Funny I just posted this below, right before I read your post.
:doh
That's funny, but it's funny because it's you engaging in self-pwnage. The relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States has gone downhill since we elected a naif child-king as President; when they sent tanks across the bridge to Bahrain they didn't even bother to give us a heads-up first. Because we were irrelevant to their decision-making. We bowed out of Syria after painting a red line, and are shifting to a policy of containment with Iran. The complete breakdown in the relationship is a 2013 phenomena. But here you are trying to reference the Bush Administration.
Perhaps I should also be proud of POTUS Bush and Obama kissing Saudi king and inviting him to the Oral office as well?
 I wouldn't say proud - I would say recognizant. S.A. is an abusive autocracy whose moribund and corrupt kleptocracy will one day assuredly fall. That, however, in no way mitigates the point that people who support Assad today will desperately attempt to spin and obfuscate their way out of those positions tomorrow.
