So we have placed strangling sanctions on Iran. They'd bitch slap us like Japan did, if they could. Now suppose Iran pulled a blockade on us, what do you suppose would be our response? We'd Pearl Harbour them wouldn't we, and you would be defending it.
A third party , the United Nations should be handling these problems, NOT one self-elected nation, even us.
IF the UN works not, if it is not effective, then this should be worked on, improved..The world needs NOT to return to vigil-ante "justice" .

Ok with that said, do you think people should still register so when that other country attacks the government knows who they can draft?

I assume if another country attacks they are not going to give a "time out" to get a draft registration ready and implemented.

So taking away their civil right is punishment enough?

With today's technology do you really think a draft registration is necessary? It shouldn't take a math genius to figure out that if a SS number has been used to for 18 years then that person is draft age.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

    Cicero Marcus Tullius
