If someone doesn't want to serve in the military, they should never be forced to do so.

Sure Chris. So the 80% of Americans that OPPOSED getting involved in WW2 were siding with the Japanese and Germans, then again, Hitler did make Times man of the year in 1936!

No way would I support prosecution for failure to register for Selective Service. If a candidate wanted to bring it back, I probably would vote against them and even campaign for other candidates. Draft needs to include women if it has to exist or else I'd see it as unconstitutional.

I voted yes, as in prosecute the old bastard.

And what is OP suggesting, anyway?- that since we do not fully enforce all of our laws we should
therefore enforce none of them? Since we aren't hunting down selective service system dodgers
we should therefore let OP drive that stupid souped-up testosterone substitute of his at 200 mph
in a school zone just as school is letting out?

Next time think before you post, OP.

Prison is a horrible idea for anyone who is not a violent threat to society.

I think it's easier to just sign these people up automatically. After all, the government knows where they are through their income taxes and employment, they know how old these people are, just have the government automatically sign them up and send their cards out in their tax information.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

We will never have a completely "free society" as long as nations exist who are jealous and hateful of us (extreme Islam, Japan, Germany, Russia?, NK, Persia, even criminal elements)...
But, today, I'd question the need...for a "draft"...
WW2 is over, some seem not to know this !

Those Americans who opposed being involved in World War II were wrong, majority or not. The political leadership that had the courage and foresight to lay the groundwork and push for American involvement are worthy of great respect and admiration.

First off, the world needs to "clean up" the United Nations.
