    yep.............
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Anyone who only sees evil in what the USA is doing and has done is out of touch with reality.
And there are plenty of examples where we have given up blood and money, and made the world a worse place.

But I won't take the poll because of the way it's written, as in all or nothing. There's no room to have respect for those things that America has done that deserve respect.

I hear what you are saying and I agree.

Hopefully we will see less of that in the future.

As long a humans make up the government, it won't be perfect. People and governments make mistakes. Also what was right a long time ago, in history at the time may be viewed as being wrong today. This comes about through our changing morals, values and customs. What was viewed a normal and moral 100 or 200 years ago as moral and just may not be seen in that same light today. We of today's world are unable to make decisions or take action to what will be view as right and justified in the world of 500 years from now. All we can do is the best we can today with what our values say is right today, not tomorrow.

Ok, sense you narrowed it down like that, I think we have common ground.

Here are my reasons why I have no respect for America as a nation:

    - US president Obama promised dialog with Iran and Syria, but instead invited Saudi Arabian kings to the white house who sent death row inmates to fight Syrian people
    - US president Bush promised no nation building but invaded Iraq, Afghanistan
    - US senate congress has fights about funding Obamas care, but has no problems funding Israel which has universal health care, and funding whole bunch of other nations.
    - I was wrongly arrested from my house in 2000 for robbery, spent 3 days in prison, and could not even sue the police district, another police district ended up handling my case. without money I am absolute nobody in this nation. same when my dogs got shot near my house this past December 4th.

There are many other reasons, but this gives some idea. I respect decent American people with all my heart, and unlike politicians who have access to the establishment media to keep kissing millions of asses and saying god bless America and god bless our men in uniform, I do not have such privilege, but to love a nation I have to love the system, a nation IS a system. If America does not even have a government that represents its' people, what kind of a nation is it? it certainly does not represent me.
    1. There's a saying: "Politics makes for strange bedfellows". One of the dirtiest facts about international relations is that sometimes - heck, even a lot of times - make friends with unsavory nations and peoples. This has been true throughout human history. The strong friendship between America and England is actually an exception to the rule in that there's few if any instances where we would turn our backs on them - but England itself certainly has feet of clay.

Obama's made some diplomatic mistakes - but his foreign policy successes are by any OBJECTIVE (i.e. non-Obama-hater's) measure are certainly greater than his foreign policy failures. And if he turned his back on Saudi Arabia, sit back and think on how that would affect our diplomatic dynamics in the region - there's no benefit (whether diplomatic or economic) at all for America by rejecting the Saudis...never mind the things that they do that are terribly wrong in our eyes.

    2. Yeah, we screwed up badly when we elected Dubya, didn't we?

    3. Most of America DOES want health insurance or single-payer health care for all Americans. It's just one certain sizable (and very well-funded) segment that wants to fight it.

    4. Every government screws up sometime...and (assuming you're completely on the up-and-up) I strongly feel that you should have the right to sue. That said, would you care to point out a nation where - given the same set of circumstances - you would be allowed to sue? There's very few such nations.

In other words, we ain't perfect, not by a long shot. But (except for the insane war on drugs) we're not that bad, either.

And except for the insane war department. Don't forget that one.

I just can't ride with that, inaction isn't a crime.
