Once again, the states have not violated the 14th, even SCOTUS agreed, until they decided to change their minds as to what the Constitution really said. Once again, legislation from the bench.
Please don't try and pretend that you would support SSM even with a constitutional amendment specifically protecting it.

sheesh, you'd think that would be an argument for compassion, not being a huge prick about it.
Agreed. If the only reason were that these folks are abnormal that's not a legal or constitutional valid argument. Normality falls on a bell curve with only a very small range in the middle being "normal".

Well, you obviously don't know me or my arguments well enough to know I would. Would I think it's wise, or support such an amendment - no. Would I support it as a constitutional right once passed - yes.

What language, exactly, in the 14th amendment leads you believe that it applies to matters of race and not sexual orientation? I see the phrase "any person" without any qualifiers.

Then explain why the 14th applies to interracial marriage but not SSM

since when does "any person" translate to "any person's sexual preference"?

Same reason the SCOTUS gave the first time when they upheld DOMA. All citizens (with certain legal exceptions) ARE able to enter onto marriage with the opposite sex. Sexual orientation is not a protected class.

This is the important stuff. We can’t get lost in discrimination. We can’t get lost in B.S. We can’t get lost tearing each other down. I want to make a point here that no matter what you look like, where you come from, how you worship, who you love, how you identify, and yeah, how you run, that if you have good public policy ideas, if you are well qualified for office, bring those ideas to the table, because this is your America, too. This is our commonwealth of Virginia, too.

Then how does this differ with saying that all citizens are able to enter into marriage with the same race?
