Or someone have doubts that they are the enemies of us?
It doesn't really matter what you THINK. You have to prove that they are guilty of something. Being accused is different than being guilty, as has been proven on numerous, numerous occasions.

I say don't even try them. Release them and send them back home. What would they be guilty of? Making war? When we are the ones to initiated aggression in their country? Imo, we were fools to ever even go there. We should have been willing to kill them all, or stay out altogether. We try to make war "nice" nowadays- they are political endeavors without any real chance of accomplishing anything, and we will be leaving those countries the same ****holes they always were.

Honestly, I'm quite torn on the issue of Muslims and their religion. I know there must be some moderate ones out there, but when you hear of some of the things their leaders preach and hear about some passages in the Koran and the way some try to explain them away, some of the customs in Muslim-dominated countries of marrying children and how they treat women, it makes one wonder. Of course it isn't just that either, but the rampant terrorist ideology that is present in that religion.

Quran clearly indicates that other faiths should be treated as pigs or dogs. Pigs and dogs unclean animals for Muslims, which have to be destroy. Man that was born a Muslim, but decided to change his religion should be killed. A Muslim can not and should not apply to the infidel as well as to a Muslim. All these provisions have in traditional Islam. But for 100 years as he comes to replace original Islam Wahhabi wing of Islam. Who claims that only Jihad allows Muslim called a Muslim.

Okay, but some have claimed that most of these extreme viewpoints have been moderated by most of the Muslim world, and that only the extremists take these passages literally. Similar to the Christian bible which also has some violent passages but normal practicing Christians wouldn't take those things in a literal sense.

Do we lose any alleged moral high ground by detaining then indefinitely? Should we care?
Trials and release for the innocent.

i say retry them and put the death penalty on the table for those convicted of serious enough offences, and then put the rest either into freedom, or into higher security facilities.

My ideal scenario? Have an independent review panel authorized to review every case with all of the evidence and intelligence made accessible to them. Their goal should be to rapidly identify those whom we can clearly identify as hardened members of al-Qaeda and their affiliates, and those whom are fellow travelers or nearly innocent. Those whom fall into the latter category should be with all haste released or transferred to a power that can provide supervision. The remainder should be kept under guard at Guantanamo or some other facility outside the civilian penal system if that is more expeditious. I think it is important to keep this segregated and compartmentalized from our criminal justice system, this is not a police action it is a military action authorized by Congress. We should not blur the lines more than needed.

Re: What should we do with the Guantanamo prisoners?

In a perfect world, they would have been tried more quickly. Now there's no chance of a real trial, and they've been held for a decade or more. It's time to close the facility and let them go.

I wasn't raised to believe I live in a country that keeps POWs indefinitely without trial. That country was Vietnam, and we sent Rambo to get them out. The reality is a lot messier. Still, it is not American to hold people indefinitely without trial. The lack of movement from the Obama administration on this issue is a real disappointment.
