I was just joking. I don't believe in a devil on which to blame the negative actions of humans.

Then you fell for the trick he played on everyone.

It is pretty close to automatic. Having to spend 1000X (or more) what a job pays just to apply for it sounds ripe for corruption to me.

Very cool! I would count that as Other. Working on campaigns I should've added that as an option. Also thought of making it multiple choice.

And I didn't know that the electoral college worked like that. What about the faithless electors? How does that all work? Since I think Reagan got one of those votes in 1976 and John Edwards got 1 in 2004.

Also, I don't think that they should sacrifice what they believe just for that. But I know it happens.

It didn't cost me anything to run. I just wrote my name in and had a few others do it also. And I won.

I was one of 13 electors which were selected by the Reform Party here in Georgia. Although the names of the presidential candidates are on the ballot, when you vote for a candidate you are actually voting for a slate of electors and not the candidate himself. So each vote for Perot was in reality a vote for our slate of 13 electors which back in 1996 Georgia had 13 electoral votes. After the election was certified by the Georgia Secretary of State we would have been called into Atlanta to cast our vote. In theory and it has happened in the past, anyone of us could cast our vote for whoever we wanted, but I do not think I or any of us would have been chosen if there was a single doubt we wouldn't cast our votes for Perot. But you are right, it has happened in the past.

But I got to do none of the above since Perot didn't carry Georgia.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Re: Have you ever thought of, ran for, or been elected to, or served in public office

I think "I intend to run" should have also been an option. I have been working these last ten years on building a resume worthy of earning the public faith in my ability to lead. When I first though about it I was a lower middle class American with barely a high school diploma who was working in a local factory. I did not not feel I had any right to assume that others would see anything in me that would demonstrate an ability to bring the city, state or nation past the "mediocrity" which I had achieve in my own life.

I would also like to beg the others that would not run because of the corruption and greed in the political system, do something! Stand up, become the system and push out the corruption. Until the halls of congress are full of people trying to pass a budget instead of just trying to deny the other side what they want the problem will persist, and our great nation will continue to decline.
