That's because in that poll, 44% of Americans don't know him yet.

Ted Cruz
Strongly Approve 7%
Somewhat Approve 7%
Neutral 13%
Somewhat Disapprove 8%
Strongly Disapprove 20%
Don't Know/Unsure 44%

I think if the other 44% of people got to know Ted Cruz, they would like Ted Cruz. So he would then have a 58% approval rating, 28% disapproval rating. The other 13% who don't really have an opinion, I'm gonna say possibly half of them could vote for Ted Cruz, so that's another 7% right there, which means 65% of Americans are not against the idea of a President Ted Cruz. But if I add that extra 6% then you got 71%.

Just wait until the reality of Obamacare sets in. Just wait until people really get to know Ted Cruz and how good he is.

And just wait until Obama's approval ratings sink into the mid 20 percentile range. And when people see that Hillary Clinton let 4 Americans DIE in Ben "What difference does it make?" Ghazi.

LOL...Ted "I don't like green eggs and ham" Cruz? The man doesn't even know how to make a bad analogy. The reality is, the American people DO know Ted Cruz and know the idiot that he is. Good luck with this fantasy. Hilary would walk all over him in a "Walter Mondale...Bob Dole" kind of way.

Overall, 46% registered a positive view of the ex-secretary of state, compared to 33% who expressed a negative opinion. As recently as April, 56% saw Mrs. Clinton in a positive light.

Mrs. Clinton has not yet declared her intentions in the 2016 presidential race, but if she runs she would be the solid front-runner in the Democratic field, public polling has shown.

The Journal poll also looked at a pair of Republicans who are seen as potential presidential candidates in ’16: Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey.

A total of 33% held a positive view of Mr. Christie compared with 17% who saw him negatively (26% held no opinion or didn’t know his name).

Mr. Cruz, fresh off the fight over the government shutdown, fared less well. Only 19% had a positive image of him, with 30% taking a negative view (35% had no opinion or didn’t know his name).

If the GOP don't go with Christie they're doomed.

I agree. Christie is the only potential GOP nominee that stands a chance if Hilary runs. If Hilary decides not to run, then I think it is a different story. In any event, Cruz would get creamed by anyone the Dems would put up....so from that standpoint, I'm hoping that they are stupid enough to go with someone like him (although I don't see that happening).

Alright, so I know that there is no official Vice Presidential Primary. Presidential Nominees traditionally select a running mate and they are officially nominated at the Convention, either by a vote from the delegates or sometimes a voice vote for quicker nomination.

There is or was something called the Vice Presidential Straw Poll. I don't think it was official and people would vote for all sorts of unusual choices like a U.S. President who had been dead for several decades, or for Mickey Mouse.

It might have either been in New Hampshire and/or Minnesota.

ANYWAY, I'm gonna try something different with this poll. Again, it's just for fun. I already have the GOP Presidential Primary for 2016 poll thread here: http://www.debatepolitics.com/polls/181089-2016-republican-primary-28.html

Here's one for the VP Nomination. I'm not going to add any of the candidates that I put in the Presidential Primary Poll, but I will again leave the "Other (Please specify)" option.

Please don't put the "It's too early to decide comments". Sure, it's your right to say what you wish if you really feel that way. But let me explain the reason I ask that. Partially it's because they're fun to see what people would think, assuming it were the time to decide that. OR, which potential VP candidates they think go best with which candidates. I just want to know which one you would prefer to run with your preferred candidate.

I personally don't believe it's ever too early to discuss. Sure, your opinion can change. But if you know what you think now and why, then you'll better understand what you think then, and why.

It's so hard to determine. You have to start with who you believe will win the Primary...so starting with Chris Christie as the Republican Primary winner I will go with Nikki Haley. A woman, she's a Tea Party favorite, she' ethnic, she's from the south. Perfectly balances out the ticket.

Also...assuming he's facing Hillary having a woman on the ticket may help a bit

Those numbers can change once people start to see the truth.

I'm TELLING you all - I wish people would quit being so ignorant to the truth - that Christie isn't even a real Republican. It isn't even worth having a Republican President if they're just gonna do everything the Democrats want anyway - and nothing that the Republicans want.

I don't think the shallow people understand - we don't want the "title" Republican. We want an "actual" Republican - like Ted Cruz - who is a LOT better for America - and he CAN win. Even if he can't - people should stop caring about "who can win" and start caring about "who is better for America".

I really hope Christie doesn't win. The GOP is dead not in quantity but in quality if they go with him. Cannot sacrifice what is right for a false sense of who they think will win.

Nonetheless, if he did win the nomination, then Nikki Haley would be a great choice. I hope she wins re-election as South Carolina Governor next year.
