So do you suppose the USA would necessarily become just like those countries if it simply stopped immigration? Is there a country out there that forbidds imigration? North Korea or Saudi Arabia maybe... which are not exactly good company.

Why or why not?

No, we don't need them. I don't buy that ridiculous mantra for a nanosecond because there is absolutely no evidence to support it.Legal immigration with ease and incentives given certain criteria. Gives incentive for highly educated and skilled individuals to come, and we need them.
I generally oppose allowing in people from countries with theocratic governments and extreme theocratic intolerant societies.

And another thing, you mention "highly educated" individuals. A huge number of those people are only "highly educated" because they were in the USA on a student visa, being educated in an American university.
They filled seat an American could have filled.
And practically all of those universities continue to receive funding from the American taxpayers. To continue issuing student visas by the thousands every year when the US economy has been in a depression for nearly a decade borders on treason.
All it does is screw young Americans. You know, that important demograph that is over 50% unemployed or underemployed right now through no fault of their own. Did you forget about them?
Or perhaps you just don't give a **** about them. You care more about foreigners.
The poor, drug-addicted, criminally-oriented immigrant, they can take a hike.
4.We do not allow anyone into the US who has a serious disease or illness, pregnant, can't pass a criminal background check.
Legalize illegal immigration, you know like they did back when my family came over here from Ireland, and allow anyone & everyone in.
Save untold billions on border enforcement and put that money into municipal police departments (with a focus on community policing, where crime is a problem). Further, take the billions saved on futile border enforcement and place some if it directly back into peoples pockets, with saved tax dollars.
I agree, we should have a closed policy much like the Swiss. . . . if you don't fly the stars and stripes, go back to wherever the hell you came from.
How very libertarian of you.
Problem here, the people coming here are clueless concerning America.
Spend-it-all-Deval (MA governor) won in a landslide primarily due to uneducated and largely state dependent areas.
This isn't a race thing. Don't start with that. This is purely numbers and facts.
It absolutely isn't. It is one policy I'm quite adamantly against. Countries, as of late, that have open border policies, are crumbling economically and culturally. Unlike the left or the right, the Libertarians don't vote lockstep and do offer alternatives as individuals.
Bottom line, a large influx of people will lead to a collapse economically. Go to the southwest. I've been. Border towns in particular. Count foreign flags being flown vs American flags. Point in proof. They have no respect for this country. Why should they stay?
