You can see the teacher pushing him off her in the video.

I'm not convinced that is a woman.

Did the teacher have an obligation to report the inappropriate touching?

Then you'd lose your job as a teacher.

Women don't get sexually harassed because they're bitches. They're bitches because they think everything is sexual harassment.

Well, IMO, if someone asks you not to touch them, and you do it anyway, that is some type of harassment. Sexual? Maybe not. I don't really know the laws concerning what's considered "sexual" harassment as opposed to just a regular type of harassment.

I'm not sure but the penalty is inappropriate. Especially at that age where no life altering harm was done, correction needs to be just that, CORRECTION, not punishment. Community service at a battered women's shelter. Write a research paper on the adverse impact of the mistreatment from the perspective of women in his own family. A power-point presentation on how women around the world are abused. Something educational on human trafficking. Instead of turning this into a teaching opportunity and molded this young man into an advocate for women's rights, what the school system did instead was harm this kid's chances to go to college and become a productive member of society.

But the problem is some people have impulse control issues. I don't know much about this case, but the fact that she asked him to not do it and he continued with the same behavior indicates that he couldn't help himself IMO. He was certainly old enough to know better too.

IMHO, high school students have no reason/business hugging a teacher and teachers have no reason/business hugging students. If this was the first incidence, then a year seems excessive. If he had done it before and been admonished for it...then "you do the crime, you do the time"

Of course, I can't say that he's guilty or not, but if what the teacher says and if what was caught on video is true . . .

    From the article:

A school surveillance video captured the incident. It shows Sam McNair, 17, embracing the teacher, who has not been identified, from behind. She then pushes him away and he releases her and turns away. The teacher claims that his lips touched her neck, which he denies. She also alleges that she had warned him in the past about inappropriate physical contact.
