I need to get out of this thread. I can't believe you guys are on board with large scale domestic spying operations. 1984. Incredible.

Money? The dude is living in hiding, essentially barred from his home country and family...indefinitely.

And that was his choice. Do you think that he hasn't given the millions of documents he had to the Chinese and Russians? Really? lol

Also, I asked who you think works in intelligence. They're just regular people, dude.

He at one point took an oath when he was mil. I never took that oath, you never took that oath. For that, he should hold himself to a higher standard (towards the American people), and he has. He didn't obey people that were giving orders that violated the rights of Americans. He informed Americans that these powers were in fact spying on them regularly, unjustifiably, with complete impunity. There is no accountability, and he decided enough was enough. Good for him. He kept his oath. More than most can say, most can't even keep a promise (cough president cough)

I never took that oath? Are you sure?

He's a traitor, dude lol

It's fair to assume that you have no problem with peace officers, whoops this is 2013 'boston strong' days...they are law enforcement now, looking like this as well?

I feel safer already

Nope. No problem. It's called the democratization of violence. Cops need to worry about it, too.

Jesus christ man. If that picture doesn't bother you, I don't know what to say.

You didn't know what to say when you first stumbled into this thread, so at least you're consistent.

? I said Snowden is a hero for taking his oath seriously and informing the people of America that their government is using 1984 as a guideline. I think I made myself perfectly clear.

I can't believe that you're fine with police becoming militarized, citizens being spied on, and god knows what else.

He didn't take his oath seriously. He lied and committed treason.

I can't believe that you're fine with police becoming militarized,

Why is this a problem?

citizens being spied on,

Who is being spied on? Do you mean phone metadata storage?

and god knows what else.

Yeah, all kinds of other things that you can imagine up and then be mad about.

He didn't take his oath seriously. He lied and committed treason.

Actually, he told the truth and honored his oath to uphold the constitution

Why is this a problem?

Because why the **** do police have mraps? Peace officers, not SS. I'm still dumbfounded by this one.

Who is being spied on? Do you mean phone metadata storage?

Oh yeah, just that minor detail of all your calls and texts being logged. No big deal. If you're not doing anything wrong, don't worry about it right? Someone get the sheep dog, they're running wild.

Yeah, all kinds of other things that you can imagine up and then be mad about.

Yeah, 10 years ago if I said there's a project in the works that will effectively kill the mobile communications privacy anyone in the country has, you'd tell me to put on a tinfoil hat. Here we are, and there it is. If they had this in the works, I'm sure this is the tip of the iceberg.

I'm done. I don't even know what to say.
Off topic, fair assumption that you're a cop, am I on point here?

Your calls and texts aren't logged. And you thought your mobile communications were capable of total privacy? It's basically just a radio with some basic encryption on the uplink. What do you think you had in your hand?

Kinda sounds like your talking about Obama.

A reasonable understanding that this is a free country with the right to privacy. Apparently it's an illusion.

You have no right to privacy. Certainly not over airwaves.

Why shouldn't we have that right?

Is this a serious question? You assumed you had something and then I point out that you don't, no you're saying "why not?" The point is you don't have it, period. So you were wrong to think that.
