We should not talk about the Snowden, but We should talk about the NSA. This organization turns into a giant monster like KGB. Zero transparency, zero accountability to Congress and completely incomprehensible problem which the organization must carry out. I have serious concerns that the NSA has transformed into a secret political police.

You know what? As soon as this goes away, like Wikileaks and Manning, some other attention whore is gonna bust chain of command to tell you something that you already know. Will you be a cheerleader once again? I bet so. That'll be funny. I wonder how many times you'll be suckered into that.
While it may of been known to people like me and you, it wasn't known to the masses. Most people just didn't know, or care to even know. Now that it's talked about, our society are having to deal with a lot of these questions. And for a democracy, that is what is suppose to happened. And oh yeah, being banished from his home country, stuck for two weeks in a Moscow airport while his fate was decided... really he must of wanted all that.

It surely has the potential, and we should be talking about this.

But I disagree with you about Snowden, and so does this poll thread. Some regard him as a hero while others regard this quisling as a traitor.

One could say. Although I think also the NSA thing came at a time of a perfect storm as well. We were dealing with the IRS thing with tea party groups, you had them pulling phone records for media groups. I think what Snowden did more than anything was wake us up to what the government as a whole has become. I mean, before Snowden, the white house photographer story wouldn't even be mentioned. But now, it fits with the narrative.

The argument is that the overly broad search warrants are a violation of our rights, and a Federal judge has just acknowledged that. Warrant are for specific instances of privacy, not a blanket grab of 6 months data connections from AT & T or Verizon, or etc. Power grab and illegal. US Intelligence Agencies have become ubiquitous in this Nation. Fire them all, and start over.

Defending the constitution and the American people at the peril of tyrannical leaders can never be treason.
Nope, he ran off to Russia and took the secret info with him. He's threatening to release more that would damage US national interests. He probably entered an agreement with the Russians to share at least part of the info out of what he had.

None of that was necessary to the purpose of informing the American people and trashing the US government. He's not a hero.

This whole thing is beginning to have the odor of a Church Committee hearing. Are we going to go too far toward hamstringing our intelligence capabilities again?

I could find a Federal Judge that thinks child rape is a minor offense. So what? Do you always agree with random people that support BS?
