Hey all,

I read this article, on the Forbes 2013 list of the world's most powerful people. I wanted to take a poll here and see what everyone thought -- I know that I was shocked to see that they rated Vladimir Putin as the most powerful person in the world!

But also fascinated by it. Maybe it's true! What do you think?

Maybe it's none of them -- maybe you think the entire list is ****, and the real most powerful person in the world is actually Undead Kim Jong Il of the Lizard People's Illuminati Society? If so, I want to hear that too.

The most powerful person in my world is my wife.
 
Still the President, and would be regardless (with a few extreme exceptions) of who's holding office at the moment. Foreign affairs? The World Economy? Putin's influence pales in comparison.

It's obviously the President of the United States. No other single individual has greater influence or can call upon more and greater levers of power than him. Putting Putin ahead of the President is a way for Forbes to keep the list interesting. Otherwise it would be a fairly static list.
 
No brainer. The US remains the prime mover.

The president of the US though has checks and balances on his/her power that Putin does not. The US is by far the most powerful nation, but that does not mean the president of the US is the most powerful person

Forbes explained why for the second time that President Obama wasn't #1. but #2.

All you have to do is look at the Middle East and how it became a complete basket case because of Obama's failed foreign policies.

Putin is now the big boy on the block.

The United States military under Obama has become a hollow force. If you can't project military power across the world you're no longer a super power.

Obama has thrown to many allies under the bus. Has redrawn the line in the sand to many times. Couldn't even get a carrier out to sea from Norfolk during the Syrian showdown in the Mediterranean Sea. Then add on Benghazi, the IRS targeting conservatives, Obamacare and the most expensive website in history that had "glitches," and lies that you can keep your insurance and doctor, an economy that still hasn't recovered after five years after the end of the recession, and 17 Trillion Dollars of debt.

They explained why they thought Putin was more influential this year, that is not the same thing as being powerful. The latent power inherent to the office of the President far outstrips any other single leader or individual in the world today. The President is the most powerful.

Just because you aren't using your power to the fullest extent does not mean it does not exist.

Unfortunately that power is now a hollow force.

Just last week VP Biden appeased the Chinese and acknowledged to recognise China's air defensed restrictions over the disputed Japanese islands. What the Obama administration basically did was acknowledge China's sovereignty over these islands.

The United States is no longer a superpower as we were for over sixty years. That ended two or so years ago.
But we are still a world power.
 
Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sachs, is the most powerful.


All these others on the list are in some way or another beholden to a nation of people.

The most powerful people in the world are those you don't see .. the plutocrats. In America, they manipulate elections and outcomes, and hedge their bets by owning and operating both main political parties. I truth Americans run from like frightened little children.

They own and operate America's Military Industrial Complex. They can attack and destroy nations purely for profit .. case in point, Libya. We bombed Libya back into the stone age, and like Iraq, its now in complete chaos. They can target any nation they choose without any regard for public support. Case in point, Syria. It wasn't the American people or lack of support that kept them from blowing up Syria and its people, it was Putin.

The plutocrats bought the Fourth Estate and replaced it with MSM that they own. They use it to keep Americans biting at each other like crabs in a barrel over media-fed partisan minutiae while they get away with murder.

The mind**** of the plutocrats is so powerful that they even got puppetized Americans to declare corporations as a person. A true wonder to behold. Despite the warnings and admonitions about the plutocrats from great American leaders from both sides of the aisle .. including the Founders, America today has declared corporations as a person.

Time Magazine missed it, the Person of the Year should have been Corporations, which are now in full control of the American government and its people.

We didn't listen to the Founders who warned of the power of corporations and banking .. didn't listen to Eisenhower when he warned of the powers of the MIC .. didn't hear General Smedley Butler telling the world that War is a Racket .. and we certainly did not hear one of the world's greatest speeches by Charles Chaplin in 1940


Who is the most powerful 'person' in the world, corporations.

I was going to say our Mommas. They are our first teachers. The things we learn at their knee stay with us all our lives. Who was it that said "The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world?" It's true.
