Nowhere. At least until there exists a credible deterrent to nuclear weapons.

I'd bet that some of the Indian tribes fought amongst each other. We just have no record of it.

Possible, but they were pretty peaceful, quite unlike some of the tribes in other places.

Hell, I don't care. I live so far removed from any conflict that they can just kill themselves. USA stay out of it = Good.

Since the ME seems to be contented with the ongoing, all emcompassing proxy war of Syria; I'm going to "vote" for Africa.

Libya is being held together by militia rule, their gov't is dysfuntional (remember the kidnapping of their PM, just for fun??);
and France is in the CAR, and the Islamicsts and the Xtians seem to be willing to mix it up....

Well anyways I'll pic that. I don't think central Asia will stop their "insurgents/militant" internal wars for awhile (if ever),
but I doubt either Paki or India wants anything but their periodic brush fire border wars.

Asia is an interesting pot brewing up - but China is a huge power, and will prolly just >squeeze out< some more territorial gains,
as they are doing now.

So,,, the winner by default is.. Africa !!!!!!!

PS. N. Korea is just too insanely irrational to make any judgement upon, but the latest dictator could be the whackiest yet.

OK, so, California is one of the few places in the world where there never has been a war fought.

Battles were fought in California during the Mexican-American War and during the Spanish colonial period. :(

Battles were fought in California during the Mexican-American War and during the Spanish colonial period. :(

Spanish colonial period: There was the Mexican revolution, to be sure. It happened in 1810. The news of it arrived in California in 1811.

Then, there was the Mexican/American war. America won, and lots of people think that California became US territory along with Texas and the rest of the Southwest as a result. Not so. In California, the bear flaggers marched on the Mexican capital of Sonoma in 1849, after the war was over and California was still a part of Mexico. General Mariano Vallejo, who now has a town named in his honor, agreed with making California an independent nation, took down the Mexican flag, and raised the bear flag. Not a shot was fired.

California, aka, the Bear Flag Republic, became a state of the union in 1850 as a result of the compromise of 1850, in which the free states, their representatives' fingers firmly crossed, promised to return any runaway slaves to their owners in return for the admission of another free state to the union.

Every now and again, I wonder if we wouldn't be better off as the Bear Flag Republic, but then, the people we send to Sacramento do something just as stupid as the ones we send to Washington, and it comes clear that becoming a state may not have been such a bad deal after all.
