-- That's a good question. Are we?

If the rarest possibility came about that western civilisation and morals were to be replaced by islam then no, I wouldn't be prepared to live under a yoke but I don't believe the possibility is likely anyway.

The chance of Europe (or the U.S.) being "Muslim-controlled" is about the same as the chance of either being controlled by unicorns.

Actually I think that whole LOTR movie is a warning to the West, Europe in particular. Apparently Talkien had foreseen the danger of European civilization being invaded in numerous ways. :? Something like a minor Revelation, if you will.

Tolkien famously hated allegory, he denounced racism from communist as well as fascist sources, he denounced racial segregation in South Africa in one of his letters to his son Christopher. There is no hidden meaning in his work.

He loved Europe but that does not mean he hated everyone else.

Europe's future: Eurabia revisited | The Economist

Eurabia | The Economist

www.economist.com/node/21520192‎
Jun 24, 2006 - Authoritative weekly newspaper focusing on international politics and business news and opinion.

"The most controversial bit of Mr Laqueur's book concerns immigration and the rise of Islam in Europe. He makes no bones about being against both. He believes that, unlike immigrants to America, or previous waves of immigrants to Europe, the millions of Muslims in Britain, France, Germany and other EU countries are not assimilating. They find it too hard to get work, too easy to get welfare and too tempting to breed. Combining this with the EU's demographic decline, Mr Laqueur goes on to echo the fears of some of the wilder American neocons that Europe risks becoming a Muslim-dominated Eurabia, to the extent of adopting sharia law.

Many EU countries have problems with their Muslims. Neither assimilation (French-style) nor multiculturalism (British-style) seems to have worked well. Unemployment is high, radical Islam is spreading and there are groups of young men who are at least sympathetic to terrorism. But Mr Laqueur offers no answers beyond saying that it was wrong to tolerate uncontrolled immigration in the first place. Even this conclusion is not convincing: given its demographic outlook, Europe needs more not fewer immigrants.
Mr Laqueur is too gloomy about the prospects of Muslims playing a more constructive role. In Europe's own history Islam has often been a more tolerant, civilising force than, say, the Roman Catholic church. Today's Turkey offers a current example: devout Muslims with a passion for secular democracy. In truth, European cities such as London and Berlin have acquired a new zip thanks to immigrants from around the world, including those from Muslim countries. It is a shame that the tone of Mr Laqueur's book is so hostile that it slips into outright intolerance." :peace

Jeez...another race based thread.

Do you people ever stop thinking about race?

I bet you're not kidding. Boy have you changed.

Well, my country is under attack right now and the last 20 years by all kind of gipsies and foreign plunderers, so I take it seriously, yes! I have the right to self defence, no?
I am for multiculturalism, provided all people know their boudaries and not go to take over other people's land or culture.

Self defence yes but are you a true son of your own nation or did your ancestors immigrate and take over from someone else?

Yes they did. Over 1000 years ago. And mixed with the local tribes that inhabit this land for as long as history can remember (many thousands of years). And to tell you the truth, I look and feel more like those original tribes - not exactly white in skin (call me a racist now) but having a great cultural heritage.

Being a racist doesn't mean you hate everyone else. :peace

Jayzus. Anybody with so little going on in their lives that they spend time thinking about the color of their skin and how people of the same color may be "endangered," needs to keep adding new hobbies to their life until such thoughts dissipate.

The word "needs" bothers me a great deal, if you know what i mean.

No, they don't. They encourage people to vote which they might not do if the poll wasn't anonymous.
Which is precisely why they suck.

This thread was teetering on the edge of absurdity to begin with, but now I think it has fallen off.

It had fallen off since post #1. We just know it now.
