Why does it seem that any religion other than Christianity is able to publicly state Hate Speech and that their right to discuss their feelings is acceptable, since we don't want to suppress any people's "Religious Beliefs". But with Christians it is not acceptable. Are other religions more mysterious? What is the psychological thing that allows people to accept this double standard. If we saw thousands of christians in London marching and screaming Death to Islam...Death to Persians! There would be an outcry like you have never heard from our media, but we are shown media of them doing so all of the time, over cartoons, over just about anything.

Is an open discussion even possible?

Your thoughts?

What? Do you think people believe it's acceptable for muslims to go out and chant "death to the west"? LOL dont make me laugh. There are many televangelist pastors who's message is one of hate and instead of being reprimanded for their words are rewarded with trips to the white house to meet the president. Christians need to get over this victim complex they have. A christian pastor preaching the destruction of homosexuals is no different then a shi'ite cleric preaching the destruction of Israel. End of story.

What?!?... Ahem

And you know whats really nuts, I'm on her side. Within the context of her religious fundamentalist beliefs, everything she says is rational and can be supported by her scripture. Hannity's moderation, his taking the overall message of the new testament and ignoring the rest of his god's commandments, is theologically bankrupt.

Either your bible is the infallible word of god, or it isn't.

She considers the religious moderate types to be Christians in name only because they cherry pick the passages they agree with from the 1st century antiquated barbarism that Fundamentalists take literally.

Its not as if somewhere in the Bible it says that Christians can jettison said savage passages once they come to the new world and are confronted with modern morality.

That crazy bitch is serious....

Hateuy, there are preachers here that preach death to those outside their religion simply because they are different? And THOSE people get invited to the White House? Like who?

Personally, I have yet to see any march or assembly in the USA that had a "Death to Anybody" theme. Can you direct to one that has happened so that I can be better balanced and informed please?

Lachean just posted a very convincing video but if you want more.

On the June 8, 1998 edition of his show, Robertson denounced Orlando, Florida and Disney World for allowing a privately sponsored "Gay Days" weekend. Robertson stated that the acceptance of homosexuality could result in hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, terrorist bombings and "possibly a meteor."[18] The resulting outcry prompted Robertson to return to the topic on June 24, where he quoted the Book of Revelation to support his claims.

True Christian Church of Christ

Insolitology - God Hates Fags

It's no secret that these fundis are opposed to anything that is even remotely gay. It's not suprising that most of them know the president and some are even "spiritual" advisors.

You Tube DL's don't work on my cpu, so I couldn't see that one. But organized marches chanting death are a far cry from a website or even a preacher preaching in his little lonely church.

I see your point and I won't argue further other than to say that it is a debate between degrees. The degree to which some preach death is far less than others. All are wrong, but a few whackos is not as disturbing as a LOT of whackos IMO.

LoL. Wackos are disturbing period. Doesn't matter how many there are. :p And it's a shame you can't see the video on that christian church that regulary disrupts military burials. Yelling "God Hates Fags" and "Thank God for IEDs"

Hatuey.... Thanks for a very logical post. Christians are suppose to be Christ like, and here they are yelling Death To Someone. I believe in the Merciful
one called GOD, but I can't stand these fakea** Christians. So after its all
said and done most Christians will burn in hell more quicker then a sinner. Many of these Tell A Lie vision Preachers could not lead me across my street.

Most of you are Muslim haters and really don't know why. Was it because the
BUSHMaster told you to hate, and told you that all Muslims are killers? Now
how do you like what Hatuey said about the Muslim/Islam people yelling in
numbers...Death To the West? I can just see many of you turning fire engine red in the face. :rofl

How you leftwingers can say that those nut cases represent the feelings of Christianity is beyond me..........

I believe take up up the bum on Meth Haggard had a weekly phone conference call with Bush, and he was one of the worst Evangelical bigots there are.

He was the Chairman for the National Association of Evangelicals...

Groups like the Westboro Baptist Church aka "God hates fags" share many of the same beliefs as other fundamentalist "Christian" groups...they are just more vocal about it. This is the complaint that I have with most "Christian" groups. When you look at the core of their agenda, it is politically based and has little if anything to do with the teachings of Christ.

The Christian Groups I know of believe in loving the sinner and hating the sin be it gay sex or adultery.....

Thats interesting, a preferable take on the scripture in my opinion, but shouldn't they be calling to stone adulterers and homosexuals?

I don't believe modern day Christianity supports those action..............At least the Catholic Church does not.......

And where in your scripture did you modern day Christians read that god said that it was okay to jettison his Old Testament morality in the face of modernization?

If it was true in antiquity, how can it be theologically correct to cherry pick said infallible word today?

Besides, your Catholic Church does believe that preaching the sinfulness of condom use to the millions dying of aids in Africa is a virtue. This shows no actual concern for human suffering, and is a falsification of morality.

Don't you people also revere Saint Thomas Aquinas (kill the heretics) and Saint Augustine (torture them)?

That youtube video is neat. However the interviewer seemed just as rabid as the preacher. Maybe they need each other to feel good.

I think u miss the point of the scripture. It means they DESERVE to be stoned. Just like i deserve to go to hell. Lucky for us though, God is forgiving. Did Jesus not say, "whoever is without sin may cast the first stone"? So if and only if we are without sin should we stone them.

No, I really don't. I think you miss the point of the Old Testament.

It means they DESERVE to be stoned. Just like i deserve to go to hell.

The former statement is a falsification of morality, and bigotry. The latter may or may not be true, depending on the existence of hell, among other things...

Any scripture that would suggest such a thing is immediately disqualified as the "infallible word of god."

Lucky for us though, God is forgiving.

Lucky for us? How presumptuous of you... I don't believe in your god.

Did Jesus not say, "whoever is without sin may cast the first stone"? So if and only if we are without sin should we stone them.

Oh, the old "Jesus brought us a new covenant with god that invalided the old covenant" argument. This is demonstrably false, if you were a student of scripture.

Not to mention, it shows the inconsistency of god's "perfect morality."

Miss the point of the old testament? who are you to say what i miss and what i dont, your not a christian as you just said. Let a christian judge what i miss.

The old testament was directed at God's chosen people, not the world as a whole. God wanted his people to be a pure people.

I don't need to be a weather man to point out its raining, and I don't need to currently be a Christian to have understood the scripture when I did.

Let a christian judge what i miss.

What? Afraid of being judged by someone who doesn't agree with you? What kind of intellectual coward are you.

If you think my not being a Christian make what I have to say any less true, you really should get back to your group-think hole. There be free thinkers here, hide the children.

Too scared to lock horns with me? C'mon, stand up for your scripture, put em up!

The old testament was directed at God's chosen people, not the world as a whole. God wanted his people to be a pure people.

This is why I said you missed some of the Old Testament. I'm guessing you've never read Leviticus or Deuteronomy. If you have, you would not think them part of scripture God would give to his aforementioned "chosen people", or any pure people.

If you're going to make me quote your book, and make you look like a fool, please say so, It would be a pleasure. But first I need you to say that you are certain that it is "The infallible word of our god, and the ultimate source for morality." Then the trap is set... You can even limit my scope to discrediting the new testament, if you think me unprepared for such a debate.

Oh and do go back to my last post, it seems you got to it before I made a few edits.

Rabid. Like he isn't all together mentally stable. Like he's an idiot.

The guy goes looking for trouble, wandering the halls of that cult, and then attempts to start up a debate with the cult leader. Who does something like that other than an idiot? When the cult leader says something slightly off key he starts talking about how science is so great because it is flexible enough to change. It's like he's found something to debate and starts subconciously salivating. It's disgusting. He should go back to nerd school and leave the cultists alone. Maybe they'll decide to swallow some punch and leave this world a better place.

I don't like to get into the teachings of the Bible becasue to be honest with you I am not that versed on them and I don't think any atheist is either.......That said I know very well what is a sin and what is not in the eyes of God.............

I think we will find out who is right when we meet our maker on judgment day....

I assure you he is quite mentally stable, in fact he holds the Charles Simonyi Chair in the Public Understanding of Science at the University of Oxford.

The guy goes looking for trouble, wandering the halls of that cult, and then attempts to start up a debate with the cult leader. Who does something like that other than an idiot?

1. He was filming a documentary called "The Root of All Evil?"
2. Ted Haggard was the pastor at that mega-church, and was the Chairman for the National Association of Evangelicals. He was a mainstream Chrisitan who had a phone call w/ Bush on a weekly basis. But if you want to call Evangelical Christianity a cult, I'm not going to disagree with you.
3. He also addressed an Islamic Fundamentalist in that documentary.

Someone who wants to show people what 44% of our electorate actually believes does something like that. Its very relevant.

When the cult leader says something slightly off key he starts talking about how science is so great because it is flexible enough to change. Nerd school? If you mean Oxford, you have definitely displayed your level of maturity and scientific understanding.

Why do you keep calling Christians cultists? I would love to hear your arguments for this...
