Well, a good drafting system would "involve" everyone in some way at some time. If a college student has time to drink and party there are any number of ways they could contribute to the war effort in their own town, even if it was only working a part-time job so that some of the wealth earned could be applied to the war, at, say, a tax -- a "War Tax." Anything that keeps the war in public thought is acceptable. One possible exemption would be people who have to work so much to put themselves through school that they don't have the time or money to contribute, although TBH under ideal reforms such people wouldn't exist because a college education would be more fiscally accessible. If jobs aren't available in the local economy, the government can recruit and task them with pubic service work.

Naturally, if civilization is in immediate danger of collapse and the entire population at risk of death or enslavement, almost everybody could be put on the front lines.

As far as female soldiers go, sure, but those unfit for service could be "drafted" in similar terms to those outlined above.

If a country is going to remain a free, independent country it must have the ability to draft its citizens into its military if necessary.

Right now the USA has an all-volunteer military.

Will that always be enough to defend the USA?

    Who knows?

    Hell no. Conscription is slavery.

well the last was a concept was used in the vietnam draft, and is unlikely to change. On the other hand, as we now have so many feminists out there going for equal rights and end of segregation, they have to realize they will now be on the same pin head men are for drafting, just waiting for the message. They will have ended 200 some years of keeping women who didn't want to serve out of thee blood bath of war. They should know that every time one of them is drafted, beaten, sexually assaulted in the military, killed, it will be their fault for sending them there.

Now just for clarification, i am not saying that women should not have equal rights and be treated equally. Bt they must accept when all of that equality comes knocking on their door.

And what would those be? What is a constitutional war, one that is approved by Congress? What if the President disagrees?

That sounds like a reasonable idea to me.

If women can volunteer to join the U.S. Military why shouldn't they be drafted under the same conditions that they currently serve under/

Well half of them stayed and many of them became influential as most of them were educated.

Yep, if women are equal to men ( which they are) then should be required to sign up for selective service just like the their equal male counterparts.

No, I do not find that palatable.
